Արիզոնայի պետական ​​համալսարանի եվ Օհայոյի պետական ​​համալսարանի աստղագետները գրանցել են ամենապայծառ և ամենաարագ նոր աստղը: Հետազոտության արդյունքները ներկայացված են «Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society» ամսագրում հրապարակված հոդվածում:

2021 թվականի հունիսին գիտնականները V1674 Hercules-ից նկատեցին վառ բռնկում, որը կարելի էր դիտել նույնիսկ անզեն աչքով: Մեկ օր անց այլևս հնարավոր չէր դրան հետևել երկնքում, չնայած այն հանգամանքին, որ նման առարկաները սովորաբար նկատվում են մի քանի շաբաթ կամ ավելի երկար: Աստղագետները վերջին անգամ աստղին նկատել են դեռ 1991 թվականին, աստղի պայծառությունը տևել է մոտ երկու-երեք օր:

Նև այլ փորձագետներ են պարզել , որ V1674 Hercules-ն ունի աներևակայելի պայծառ ճառագայթում, որը արձակում է տարբեր տատանումներ՝ յուրաքանչյուր 501 վայրկյանը մեկ։ Նույնիսկ պայթյունից մեկ տարի անց գիտնականները կարողանում են հայտնաբերել այս ճառագայթումը, սակայն դրա համար անհրաժեշտ է միայն հզոր աստղադիտարանի սարքավորում՝ մեծ երկդիտակ աստղադիտակ։ Հետագայում գիտնականները մտադիր են ուսումնասիրել աստղի պոռթկման պատճառն ու այն գործընթացները, որոնք հանգեցրել են պայծառության նման արագ նվազմանը։

2022 թվականի հունիսին աստղագետների միջազգային խումբը՝ Սիդնեյի համալսարանի գիտնականների գլխավորությամբ, առաջին անգամ նկատեց նեյտրոնային աստղ, որը ռադիոազդանշաններ է արձակում՝ չափազանց դանդաղ պտտվելիս՝ մեկ պտույտ յուրաքանչյուր 76 վայրկյանում:
