Թուրքիայի, Ֆինլանդիայի և Շվեդիայի իշխանությունները սկսել են համատեղ փաստաթուղթ մշակել Հելսինկիի և Ստոկհոլմի՝ ՆԱՏՕ-ին միանալու հնարավորության վերաբերյալ, գրում է Helsingin Sanomat-ը։ Թերթը հայտնում է, որ Մադրիդում ռազմաքաղաքական դաշինքի մասնակից երկրների գագաթնաժողովի ընթացքում Թուրքիայի ղեկավար Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի բանակցությունները Ֆինլանդիայի իր գործընկեր Սաուլի Նինիստոյի և Շվեդիայի վարչապետ Մագդալենա Անդերսոնի հետ տևել են մոտ երկու ժամ։ 

Ֆինլանդիան, Շվեդիան և Թուրքիան պատրաստել են համատեղ եռակողմ փաստաթուղթ, որը վերջնական տեսքի կբերվի Մադրիդում կայանալիք ՆԱՏՕ-ի գագաթնաժողովում՝ Նինիստոյի, Անդերսոնի և Էրդողանի հանդիպումից հետո։ Փաստաթուղթը կվերաբերի ահաբեկչության և զենքի արտահանման հետ կապված Թուրքիայի մտահոգություններին։

Ավելի վաղ Նինիստոն հայտարարել էր, որ Ֆինլանդիան չի կարողացել առաջընթաց գրանցել Թուրքիայի հետ ՆԱՏՕ-ին անդամակցելու շուրջ բանակցություններում։ Դրա պատճառով, նրա խոսքով, երկիրը չի կարողանա Հյուսիսատլանտյան դաշինքի անդամ դառնալ մինչև այս տարվա սեպտեմբեր։ Միաժամանակ Նինիստոն նշել էր, որ իրեն «բավարարել է» այն փաստը, որ Անկարայի եւ Հելսինկիի միջեւ ՆԱՏՕ-ին Ֆինլանդիայի անդամակցության շուրջ քննարկումն արդեն սկսվել է։

Մինչ այս Էրդողանը պնդում էր, որ Անկարան հավանություն չի տա Ֆինլանդիայի և Շվեդիայի անդամակցությանը ՆԱՏՕ-ին, քանի դեռ հաշվի չեն առնվել հանրապետության դիրքորոշումները։ Թուրքիան կտրականապես դեմ է այդ երկրների դաշինք մտնելուն մի շարք պատճառներով, որոնցից գլխավորը Ստոկհոլմի և Հելսինկիի աջակցությունն է Քրդստանի աշխատավորական կուսակցությանը (PKK), որը Թուրքիան համարում է ահաբեկչական։
