Աուդիտորների պալատի նախագահ, տնտեսագետ Նաիրի Սարգսյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրել է. 

Այսօր 1988թ․ երկրաշարժի զոհերի հիշատակի օրն է։

34 տարի առաջ ավերիչ երկրաշարժին զոհ գնացած մեր բազմահազար հայրենակիցների հիշատակն այս տարի ոգեկոչում ենք առանձնակի ցավով, երկրաշարժի անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակն ու մեզ բաժին հասած դառնությունները նորովի վերապրում ենք նաև այսօր։ Ինչպես այն օրերին, այնպես էլ հիմա չկա մեկը, որի վիշտն ու կորստի ցավը չլինի խորապես անձնական։ Մեր սրտերում թարմ է անմեղ զոհերի, վիթխարի ավերածությունների պատճառած կսկիծն ու ցավը: Նույնքան ցավալի է, երբ աղետից երեք ու կես տասնամյակ անց դեռ ունենք Աղետի գոտի, որտեղ մեր հայրենակիցներից շատերը դեռ ապրում են փայե տնակներում, իսկ իշխանական պատասխանատուների խոստումները չեն անցնում բառերի կույտից։

Տասնամյակներ շարունակ հայ մարդուն բազում դժվարությունն են բաժին հասել՝ երկրաշարժ, պատերազմներ, տեղահանություն, բայց մենք հուսահատվելու և հույզերին տրվելու իրավունք չունենք։ Մեր փրկությունն ազգային համաձայնությունն ու միասնականությունն են, համախմբումը։

Հիշատակի այս օրը ևս մեկ առիթ է երախտիքի խոսքեր հղելու այն մարդկանց, որոնք չլքեցին իրենց հայրենիքն ու լծվեցին արհավիրքի հետևանքները վերացնելու բարդ ու պատասխանատու գործին, այն երկրներին, որոնք մեզ բաժին հասած ողբերգության առաջին իսկ օրվանից աջակցեցին ու սատար կանգնեցին։ Ամենամեծ ու անդառնալի կորուստը մարդկային կյանքն է։ Մեր առջև այսօր էլ բազմաթիվ մարտահրավեր կան որոնք լուծելու կամք մենք հաստատապես ունենք։
