«Մենք ենք մեր սարերը» գործակալության համահիմնադիր, Արցախի նախկին պետնախարար Ռուբեն Վարդանյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրել է.

1915-ից մինչև 1923 թվականը շարունակվող Հայոց ցեղասպանության տարիներին մենք կորցրեցինք ոչ միայն միլիոնավոր մարդկային կյանքեր, այլև հայրենիք, մշակույթ, պատմություն ու արժանապատվություն: Այսօր էթնիկ զտման ու ցեղասպանության սպառնալիքը կախված է Արցախի, այստեղ ապրող 120 հազար հայության, այդ թվում ՝ շուրջ 30 հազար երեխաների վրա:
 
Որպես ցեղասպանությունը վերապրածի թոռ՝ համոզված եմ, որ ոգեկոչելով մեր անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակը, կրելով այդ ցավը՝ մենք պետք է ոչ թե զոհի վիճակում մեզ զգանք, այլ հակառակը. անցյալի այդ ցավալի ժառանգությունը մեզ պետք է պայքարի ուժ տա, որը վերածելով հզոր էներգիայի՝ կկառուցենք մեր ապագան ու այլևս երբեք թույլ չտանք մեր ազգի կյանքում նման էջերի կրկնությունը:
 
Համոզված եմ, որ պայքարելու և համախմբվելու մեր ներքին ցանկությունից ու կամքից շատ բան է փոխվելու: Անթույլատրելի է տուրք տալ միտումնավոր շրջանառվող այն նարատիվներին, թե մենք փոքր, անզոր ու թույլ ենք և ոչինչ չենք կարող անել: Անգամ ցեղասպանության տարիներին մենք ունեցել ենք պայքարի ու այդ պայքարի արդյունքում հաջողությունների օրինակներ:
 
Մենք կրկին, ինչպես ավելի քան 100 տարի առաջ, սպասում ենք միջազգային հանրության արձագանքին, սպասում, որ ուրիշները «խորը մտահոգություն հայտնելուց» բացի կգան և մեր փոխարեն մի բան կանեն, մեզ կփրկեն այս արհավիրքից: Մինչդեռ անելիքը մեր ձեռքերում է. ուղղակի պետք է ազգովի համախմբվել Արցախը հայկական պահելու գաղափարի շուրջ, ծրագիր ու գործողություններ ունենալ ու գնալ առաջ, անել հնարավոր ու անհնարին առավելագույնը՝ Արցախը փրկելու համար: Ու իմ այս կոչը նաև այսօր աշխարհի տարբեր երկրներում Ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակը ոգեկոչող ողջ հայությունն է ուղղված:
 
Ճիշտ ժամանակն է հիշելու Նժդեհի խոսքերը ուղղված հայոց մտավորականությանը. «Պարտվեցինք, որովհետև մեր ցեղի ոգու բովանդակ ուժերն օգտագործելու փոխարեն հովանավորներ փնտրեցինք: Վաղը կկորչենք իսպառ-եթե մնացինք այս մտայնությամբ: Կփրկվենք, եթե ազատվենք նախապաշարումներից, եթե փորձենք ոտքի կանգնել, սակայն ոչ արտաքին դրդումով, օտարների ցանկութեամբ, այլ մեր ներքին, բնական, անզուսպ մղումով...»
