44-օրյա պատերազմը Ավագյանների ընտանիքից խլեց միակ զավակին: Կարենը մի քանի ամիս էր ծառայում, երբ սկսվեց պատերազմը: Ընկերների հետ կռվեց և անմահացավ՝ հետմահու պարգևատրվելով արիության մեդալով:

«Էրեբունի» բժշկական կենտրոնից հայտնում են, որ Կարենի զոհվելուց որոշ ժամանակ անց Նելլի Ավագյանը հասկացավ. եթե կյանքը շարունակվում է, ուրեմն պետք է կրկին մայրանալ: Հղիության հաստատումից հետո եկավ «Էրեբունի» ԲԿ կանանց առողջության կենտրոն: Այսպես «Էրեբունի» ծննդատանը սկսվեց Նելիի երկար ճանապարհը:

Հղիի հուզական վիճակը, ապրումները, առողջական որոշակի խնդիրները բժիշկներին անընդհատ ստիպում էին վերահսկել սպառնացող վիժման, վաղաժամ ծննդաբերության ռիսկերը: Բարձր ռիսկի հղիների բաժանմունքի բժիշկների հետ հղիությունը հնարավոր եղավ հասցնել 36 շաբաթական ժամկետի, որից հետո ծննդատան տնօրեն Անդրանիկ Պողոսյանը կատարեց կեսարյան հատումը: Փոքրիկը ծնվել է 3 կգ-ից մի փոքր ավելի քաշով, 47 սմ հասակով:

Ծնողները նրան կրկին Կարեն են անվանակոչել, ասում են՝ տանը Կարենի անունը նորից պետք է լսվի: Նելլի Ավագյանը երազում է. փոքրիկն իր հերոս եղբոր նման թող լինի՝ քաջ ու բարի: Մի քանի օրական Կարենը ստիպել է, որ որդուն կորցրած մոր դեմքին ժպիտ հայտնվի, հիմա նրանք ապրելու թե հույս, թե ցանկություն ունեն:
