Կանադական saltwire.com հրատարակությունն «Ադրբեջանը հայտարարել է, որ սահմանային խնդիրները չպետք է խանգարեն Հայաստանի հետ խաղաղության պայմանագրին» վերնագրով հոդվածում գրում է, թե Ադրբեջանը լուրջ խոչընդոտներ չի տեսնում իր հարևան Հայաստանի հետ կայուն խաղաղության պայմանագրի կնքման համար և կարծում է, որ սահմանի հարցը կարող է լուծվել առանձին։ Հիշեցնենք, որ սեպտեմբերին Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևի զորքերը կայծակնային գրոհ ձեռնարկեցին և վերահսկողության տակ վերցրին Ղարաբաղը, որտեղ բնակվում էին հայեր: Հետո Ալիևը հայտարարեց, որ իր «երկաթե բռունցքը» վերականգնեց երկրի ինքնիշխանությունը։

«35-ամյա հակամարտությունն ավարտվել է,- Լոնդոնում լրագրողներին ասել է Ալիևի արտաքին քաղաքականության գլխավոր խորհրդական Հիքմեթ Հաջիևը,- Ադրբեջանի ռազմավարությունն այժմ խաղաղություն նվաճելն է, և դա պահանջում է գործողություններ երկու կողմերից: Խաղաղության պայմանագիրը հրթիռաշինություն չէ, Ադրբեջանի համար խաղաղության օրակարգի համար այլևս խոչընդոտներ չկան»: Հարավային Կովկասի հարևանները վերջին 30 տարվա ընթացքում երկու պատերազմ են մղել Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի համար, սակայն այս ամիս նրանք փոխանակել են գերիներ և համատեղ հայտարարություն տարածել՝ ասելով, որ ցանկանում են կարգավորել հարաբերությունները և հասնել խաղաղության համաձայնագրի:

Միացյալ Նահանգները, Եվրամիությունը և Ռուսաստանը տասնամյակներ շարունակ փորձել են միջնորդ լինել երկու կողմերի միջև, սակայն Հաջիևը ընդգծել է երկկողմանի ուղիղ բանակցությունների կարևորությունը, որոնք, ըստ նրա, կշարունակվեն հաջորդ տարի: Նշենք, որ Ադրբեջանը գնալով ավելի թշնամական է վերաբերվում համաձայնագրի կնքման արտաքին միջնորդության նկատմամբ: Ալիևը մեղադրել է ԱՄՆ-ին Հայաստանի կողմը պահելու համար, իսկ Հաջիևը բանակցությունների հարցում ԱՄՆ մոտեցումը միակողմանի է անվանել։ Երկու հարևանների միջև չլուծված խնդիրներից մեկը ընդհանուր սահմանի վերաբերյալ համաձայնության բացակայությունն է, քանի որ յուրաքանչյուրն ունի փոքր անկլավներ, որոնք շրջապատված են մյուսի տարածքով: Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը նախորդ ամիս ասել էր, որ դա բանակցությունների հարց է։ Հաջիևի խոսքով, Բաքուն պատրաստ է քննարկել այդ հարցը, սակայն «սահմանազատման հարցը պետք է տարանջատվի խաղաղության պայմանագրի քննարկումից»։
