Ադրբեջան անունով պետություն առաջացել է միայն 1918-ի մայիսին։

Ադրբեջան անվանումը որեւէ կապ չունի այսօրվա Ադրբեջանի տարածքի հետ,այն պարսկական նահանգի անվանում է,որը գտնվում է Արաքսից հարավ։

Ադրբեջանցի անունով ազգ մինչեւ 1936 թ. գոյություն չի ունեցել.նրանք կոչվում էին թաթարներ,կովկասյան թուրքեր եւ մահմեդականներ։

Միայն 1936-ից նրանք անվանվեցին ադրբեջանցիներ՝ ադրբեջանցի գրելով նաեւ բազմաթիվ թաթերի,լեզգիների ու թալիշների։

Հին Աղվանքի /Կովկասյան Աղվանք/ հետ այսօրվա Ադրբեջան պետությունը որեւէ կապ չունի։

Նրանք յուրացրել են նաեւ Աղվանքի տարածքները։

Ըստ անտիկ հեղինակ Ստրաբոնի, Հայաստանի ու Աղվանքի սահմանն անցնում էր Կուր գետով։

Հետեւաբար ոչ միայն Արցախն է պատմական Հայաստան,այլ նաեւ Կուրի աջ ափը ՝ներառյալ Ուտիք նահանգը Գանձակ /Կիրովաբադ/ քաղաքով։

Ի դեպ ,Ստրաբոնն Արցախն անվանում էր Հայաստանի անբաժան մաս՝ Օրխիստենա անվամբ։

Նշեմ,որ Ազգերի Լիգան էլ է 1920-ին հրաժարվել ճանաչել Ադրբեջանի Դեմոկրատական Հանրապետությունը։
