В Китае обнаружили останки ранее неизвестного вида травоядных динозавров, живших 193 млн. лет назад

Окаменелые останки ранее неизвестного вида травоядных динозавров, жившего 193 миллиона лет назад, были обнаружены на юго-западе Китая. Ученые написали о своем открытии в журнале  iScience.

Палеонтологи из Юньнаньского университета назвали этот недавно обнаруженный вид – Archaeocursor asiaticus. Этот недавно идентифицированный вид динозавров представляет собой самый древний и примитивный тип птицетазовых динозавров, найденный на сегодняшний день в Азии.

Птицетазовые были разнообразной группой растительноядных динозавров с птичьими бедрами. Открытие этого вида дает ценную информацию о ранней эволюции и расселении птицетазовых динозавров в Азии.

Окаменелость была обнаружена в геологической формации Цзилюцзин, расположенной к северу от Центрального парка Чунцина в районе Юбэй на юго-западе Китая. Ученые выяснили, что окаменелости принадлежали молодой особи, что свидетельствует о небольшом размере тела — около 1 метра в длину.

Открытие Archaeocursor asiaticus является убедительным доказательством ранней и независимой миграции птицетазовых динозавров из Гондваны на древний континент Лавразия.

Недавно открытый вид динозавров из Китая имеет общие анатомические особенности с Eocursor parvus. Это род ранних птицетазовых динозавров, обитавших на территории современной Южной Африки в начале юрского периода. Archaeocursor asiaticus, вероятно, происходил из Гондваны и позже мигрировал в Лавразию, включая Восточную Азию
