Շվեյցարական Դավոս այցի ընթացքում Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը մի հանդիպում էլ տեղի հայ գործարարների և համայնքի ակտիվ ներկայացուցիչների հետ էր ունեցել։ Այդ հանդիպմանը նա անթաքույց քծնել և գովել է մասնակիցներից մեկին՝ հայտնի բանկիր և գործարար Վարդան Սրմաքեշին։ Վերջին 2018թ. իշխանափոխությունից հետո երկար աջակցել է Փաշինյանին ու նրա թիմին, Շվեյցարիայում տեղավորել սրանց գումարները, նվիրատվություններ արել Աննա Հակոբյանի ֆեյք հիմնադրամին։ Մեր տեղեկություններով, մեկ տարուց ավելի Սրմաքեշը որևէ գումար չի փոխանցում Հակոբյանի հիմնադրամին, ինչից հետո հայտնվել էր հարկայինի և իրավապահների ուշադրության կենտրոնում։
Սրմաքեշը լուրջ մասնակցություն ունի Հայաստանում գործող երկու բանկերում, նաև այլ բիզնեսներ։ Այդ բիզնեսներից մեկն էլ ժամացույցների հայտնի AWI ընկերությունն է։ Փաշինյանի՝ իշխանության գալուց հետո այդ ընկերության գործերը բավական լավ էին ընթանում, քանի որ թե՛ Փաշինյանը, թե՛ նրա թիմակիցները նախընտրում էին այդ ընկերության արտադրանքը։ Իշխանավորներն արդեն «զարգացել», անցել են այլ, ավելի թանկարժեք բրենդների։

Սրմաքեշի բանկերում մի քանի ստուգումներ են իրականացվել այս ընթացքում, իբր խախտումներ ու չարաշահումներ գտել։ Գործող իշխանությանը նվերները քիչ էին թվացել, փորձել էր փայ մտնել շվեյցարահայի ընկերություններում։

Այժմ կամ Փաշինյանի և Սրմաքեշի միջև լարվածությունն անցել է, նոր պայմանավորվածությունների են հանգել, կամ էլ, անկախ հայտարարություններից և քծնանքից, Փաշինյան-Սրմաքեշ հարաբերություններն այնքան էլ պարզ չեն։ Գործող իշխանությունների համար վտանգավոր է մինչև վերջ փչացնել հարաբերությունները։ Սրմաքեշը ոչ միայն իշխանության ապօրինի գործարքներից է տեղյակ, այլև արտերկրում կարող է լուրջ ֆոն ստեղծել, խոչընդոտել Փաշինյանի որոշ նախաձեռնությունները։ Ինքն անձամբ չի ցանկանում աշխատել գործող իշխանությունների հետ՝ հասկանալով, որ անխնա գողանում են։
