Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումը քրեականացնող նախագիծը, որ օրերս ներկայացրեց խորհրդարանական ընդդիմությունը, քարոզչական ծանր հարված դարձավ գործող իշխանությունների համար։ Թեպետ, Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումն ինքնին արդեն իսկ քրեականացված է, բայց խորհրդարանական ընդդիմությունը պատիժները խստացնող օրինագիծ էր բերել և անսպասելի ներկայացրել համընդհանուր հայտարարագրման համակարգի օրենքի նախագծի քննարկման ժամանակ։

Այդ անսպասելիությունից էլ գործող իշխանությունները փորձեցին ծեծուջարդ սկսել Ազգային ժողովում, ընդ որում բոլորը, այդ թվում նույնիսկ մերձիշխանական լրատվամիջոցներն ընկալեցին, որ այդ բորբոքումը կապված է հենց նախագծի հետ։ Ի վերջո, առանց որևէ բան «ռասկռուտկա» անելու, ընդդիմությանը հաջողվեց քաղաքական ծանր հարված հասցնել գործող իշխանություններին։ Իհարկե, նաև ծեծուջարդը չստացվեց, քանի որ օրենքը ներկայացնող ընդդիմադիրները լավ հաշվարկել էին, թե ինչ արձագանք կարող է լինել գործող իշխանությունների կողմից, որը վերջնարդյունքում հայտնվեց բավականին ապուշ վիճակում։

Թեև դրա հետևանքները մեղմելու համար գործի դրվեց իշխանական ողջ քարոզչամեքենան երկու օրից ավելի՝ Հանրային հեռուստատեսությունով, պետրոսղազարյաններով և տարատեսակ պատգամավորներով, փորձ արվեց ներկայացնել, թե Ազգային ժողովում տեղի ունեցած միջադեպը որևէ կերպ կապված չէ ընդդիմության ներկայացրած նախագծի հետ և բոլորովին այլ թեմա է։ Ուշագրավն այն է, որ սա հերթական անգամ հանրության համար դաս եղավ, որ Հայաստանի գործող իշխանություններն ամեն գնով փորձում են հրաժարվել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից, և Նիկոլ Փաշինյանին դեռ երկար ժամանակ և ահռելի ռեսուրսներ են պահանջվելու այս տպավորությունը ցրելու համար։ Թեպետ նրա ապրիլքսանչորսյան ուղերձն արդեն վկայում է, որ Փաշինյանը չի հրաժարվել Հայոց ցեղասպանության ուրացման քաղաքականությունից։
