Մինչ փաշինյանական իշխանությունը փորձում է ռևերանսներ անել Ռուսաստանին, վերականգնել երկխոսությունն ու խաթարված հարաբերությունները, արևմտամետ խմբակները, ինչպես և սպասելի էր, փորձում են վնասել հայ-ռուսական հարաբերությունների կարգավորմանը։ Երեկ Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության Դաշնային խորհրդի նախագահ  Մատվիենկոյի այցն էլ ստվերվել է արևմտամետների ակցիաներով, գրեթե 1 տասնյակ արևմտամետներ՝ «Հանուն Հանրապետության» կուսակցության նախագահ Արման Բաբաջանյանի գլխավորությամբ, բողոքի ակցիաներ են արել խորհրդարանի մոտ, ընդ որում բավական ագրեսիվ տոներով, ընդհուպ ոստիկանների և հակընդդեմ ակցիայի մասնակիցների հետ լեզվակռիվ ու քաշքշուկ սադրելով։ 

Նման մի ակցիա տեղի է ունեցել Ռուսաստանի արտգործնախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովի այցի ժամանակ։ Երեկ էլ փոքրաթիվ «սորոսականները» փորձել են փչացնել Մատվիենկոյի այցը, սակայն առանձնակի հաջողություններ չեն ունեցել։ Իսկ Մատվիենկոյին, նշենք բավականին լավ են դիմավորել, դրական նոտաներով։ Խորհրդարանում Դաշնային խորհրդի նախագահը հայտարարել է, թե ուրախ է երկու երկրների միջև խորհրդարանական մակարդակով քաղաքական երկխոսությունը վերսկսելու համար։ 

Մատվիենկոն հանդիպել է նաև  Նիկոլ Փաշինյանին։ Ռուսական կողմի տարածած հաղորդագրության համաձայն, հանդիպումը նախատեսվածից շատ ավելի երկար է տևել, բանակցությունները սկզբում ընթացել են նեղ կազմով, այնուհետև զրույցը շարունակվել է ընդլայնված կազմով, իսկ հանդիպումից հետո Մատվիենկոն հայտարարել է, թե Ռուսաստանի և Հայաստանի միջև վստահության ճգնաժամ չկա։ 

Կարելի է, իհարկե, վերապահումներով մոտենալ «ռուս պաշտոնյայի» այս հայտարարությանը և այն դիտարկել որպես դիվանագիտական ժեստ, բայց այն, որ 3 տարվա խնդիրներից, հայ-ռուսական հարաբերությունների վատթարացումից հետո գործող իշխանությունները փորձում են փոքրիշատե կարգավորել դրանք, տանել Հայաստանի համար դրական հունով, պետք է միայն ողջունել. հայ-ռուսական հարաբերությունների վատթարացումն առաջին հերթին և բացառապես վնասում է միայն Հայաստանի շահերին։ Իսկ հաստիքային արևմտամետների համար հայ-ռուսական հարաբերությունների կարգավորումը վկայում է իրենց իսկ դիրքերի թուլացում, ուստի և, արևմտյան կառույցների կողմից հրահրվելով, փորձում են ամեն գնով փչացնել այցերից ստացված տպավորությունները և կրկին վատթարացնել հայ-ռուսական հարաբերությունները։
