Shaping Armenia’s Global Identity Through Vision and Art: Exclusive Interview with Ms. Syuzanna Tovmasyan, Artistic Director of the Award-Winning DVIN Hotel Complex

Society

Named the World’s Leading Hotel Dining & Entertainment Experience for two consecutive years
and recognized as Europe’s Leading Hotel most recently, The Dvin stands as one of Armenia’s
most transformative cultural and hospitality landmarks. At its heart lies the Dvin Music Hall — a
venue that seamlessly blends traditional Armenian aesthetics with cutting-edge design, hosting
concerts, theatrical productions, and world-class cultural events.

Behind this unparalleled success is a team of visionaries — and among them, Ms. Syuzanna
Tovmasyan, the Artistic Director whose creative leadership has shaped The Dvin into a cultural
powerhouse. We sat down with her to explore the role of art in hospitality, the future of cultural
programming in Armenia, and the resort’s groundbreaking venues that are redefining global
expectations.

Interview
Arevik Andreasyan: Ms. Tovmasyan, The Dvin has rapidly become one of Armenia’s most
iconic luxury hospitality destinations. How would you describe the creative philosophy that
guides your work?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan: At the Dvin, art isn’t an accessory — it’s the heartbeat of the
entire resort. My guiding principle is that every guest should feel something
extraordinary the moment they enter our space. Whether it’s the architecture, the
performance, the culinary journey, or even the lighting, each element carries emotional
depth and cultural intention. Our mission is to create experiences that are not only
beautiful but transformative — expressions of Armenian identity presented with global
sophistication.

Arevik Andreasyan: The One & Only Antigravity Theatre is widely regarded as the resort’s
boldest artistic and architectural achievement — even noted as the only aerial theatre in the
world where performances begin and end in the ceiling. What inspired you to pursue such an
ambitious and innovative concept, and what role did you personally play in bringing this
complex project to life?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan: The Antigravity Theatre is our boldest artistic statement — and
the only aerial theatre in the world where performances begin and end in the ceiling. We
wanted to break traditional stage boundaries and create a space where imagination could
truly soar. The theatre project was an extremely complex architectural and creative
undertaking, and I am proud that I was able to coordinate its diverse components to
successful completion. Its innovative design and high cultural value significantly
enhanced the overall appeal of The Dvin, directly contributing to its commercial success
and strengthening its position as a premier destination. The One & Only Antigravity
Theatre is without exaggeration a point of gravity for our guests that value true art. By
having such a unique venue in Armenia, we’re sending a message that the country is
ready to be a global innovator in the integrating hospitality with arts.

Arevik Andreasyan: Dvin Music Hall is widely recognized as a cultural anchor in Yerevan.
What role does it play within the larger vision of the resort?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan: Dvin Music Hall is where our artistic story began. It is a bridge
between Armenia’s artistic heritage and contemporary creativity. With state-of-the-art
acoustics and lighting, we welcome global performers while also supporting local talent.
Our goal is to make Armenia not simply a venue for tourism, but a cultural destination —
a place where audiences come for world-class art and leave with a deeper appreciation of
Armenian identity.

Arevik Andreasyan:The resort also integrates culinary art deeply into its identity. How do
spaces like Hayrik Restaurant and The Stage Gastro Show Club contribute to the cultural
experience?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan:Food is one of the purest forms of culture. At Hayrik
Restaurant, we honor Armenian tradition: recipes inherited from generations, dishes
rooted in the warmth of family life, and flavors shaped by our landscapes. Each plate tells
a story, and we treat culinary heritage with the same respect as any artistic performance.
The Stage Gastro Show Club, on the other hand, is where dining and live entertainment
converge. Guests enjoy acrobatic shows, theatrical moments, themed menus, and an
after-party atmosphere that feels both cosmopolitan and uniquely Armenian. These spaces
allow us to choreograph emotion — not just through performance, but through taste,
sound, and ambiance.

Arevik Andreasyan:The Seven Visions Resort environment seems designed to inspire — from
the infinity pool to the architectural landscape. How do these elements support your artistic
direction?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan:The entire resort is a canvas. The Pool is more than a leisure
space; its architectural lines, reflective water, and serene atmosphere make it a sanctuary
of peace and beauty. We consider how each space affects the guest emotionally — where
they breathe, where they reflect, where they reconnect with themselves.

Every venue, whether it’s for art, dining, or relaxation, communicates the same message:
beauty matters. Design matters. Feeling matters.

Arevik Andreasyan:Future Tower has already become a symbol in Yerevan’s skyline. What does
this structure represent to you as an Artistic Director?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan:Future Tower is a declaration of possibility. At 77 meters tall, it
houses ARTaments — art-inspired living spaces that blend aesthetics with investment
value. It symbolizes forward thinking and emotional design. And rising to 1,111 meters
above sea level, N7 Beach Club atop the tower — featuring one of the world’s largest
rooftop infinity pools — takes this vision even further.

Arevik Andreasyan:You often speak about the necessity of integrating cultural programming
into hospitality. Why is this so crucial for modern hotels?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan:Because today, travelers want meaning. They seek experiences
that connect them to place, emotion, and story. A hotel can no longer be just a beautiful
building — it must be a cultural storyteller.

When art, performance, and design are woven into hospitality, guests feel transformed.
They build memories. They return. And more than that — they carry the story of our
country into the world.

Arevik Andreasyan: Finally, what is your vision for the future of The Dvin and Armenia’s
cultural influence?

Syuzanna Tovmasyan: Our goal is to position Armenia as a global force in experiential
hospitality and artistic innovation. The Dvin is not just a resort — it’s a cultural
movement. Through bold ideas, brave creativity, and deep respect for our heritage, we are
creating a new chapter for Armenia on the world stage.

Arevik Andreasyan: Ms. Tovmasyan, thanks to your vision, The Dvin is now the only hotel
complex in Armenia to achieve such a remarkable level of recognition on both national and
international stages. Your role is undeniably inseparable from this success, and it is evident that
your creative leadership continues to shape The Dvin as a distinguished national hospitality
brand. Looking ahead, do you have any innovative concepts planned for the coming years?
Syuzanna Tovmasyan: Thank you, Ms. Andreasyan. Indeed, currently I am working on
several unique and forward-thinking concepts for The Dvin. While I cannot disclose all of them
due to commercial confidentiality, I can share one exciting direction we are exploring.
I am developing a conceptual project that integrates AI-assisted music performance
technology into the Dvin Music Hall. This innovation would allow guests to create and perform
their own concerts — even without advanced musical or vocal abilities. It would be a
groundbreaking experience, offering visitors the chance to become artists themselves, supported
by sophisticated AI systems that enhance sound, harmony, and performance quality.
This advancement would place The Dvin in a completely unique position, not only within
Armenia but across the entire post-Soviet region. And truly — this is only the beginning of what
we are preparing.
