«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Ձմեռային պալատը գտնվում է Ռուսաստանի Սանկտ Պետերբուրգ քաղաքում: Այդ կառույցի` «Ձմեռային պալատ» անվանումը կապված է նրա պատմական գործառույթների հետ: Բանն այն է, որ ռուս կայսրերն ունեին մի քանի պալատներ՝ ամառային, գարնանային, գյուղական և այլն։ Այս պալատը նախատեսված էր ձմեռային բնակության համար, քանի որ և՛ գտնվում էր քաղաքում, և՛ հարմար էր ցուրտ եղանակին ապրելու համար։ Այդ պատճառով էլ այն կոչվել է «Ձմեռային պալատ»:

Առաջին Ձմեռային պալատը փոքր փայտե շինություն էր և կառուցվել էր 1708 թվականին Պետրոս Մեծի համար։ Հետագայում այն փոխարինվել էր քարե շինությամբ, ապա մի քանի անգամ վերակառուցվել։ Ներկայիս հայտնի շենքը՝ ժամանակակից (չորրորդ) Ձմեռային պալատը կառուցվել է 1754–1762 թվականներին իտալացի ճարտարապետ Բարտոլոմեո Ռաստրելլիի կողմից ռուսական բարոկկո ճարտարապետական ոճով։ 1837 թվականին մեծ հրդեհը ոչնչացրել էր պալատի ինտերիերի մեծ մասը, և այն վերակառուցվել էր ներսից՝ ստանալով նեոկլասիցիստական ոճ։ 1917 թվականի հեղափոխությունից հետո Ձմեռային պալատը դադարել է լինել ցարի նստավայր և դարձել է «Էրմիտաժ» թանգարանի մաս։

Ձմեռային պալատը կառուցվել էր այնպես, որ ցույց տար Ռուսական Կայսրության հզորությունը և շքեղությունը։ Ձմեռային պալատում կա մոտ 1500 սենյակ, մոտ 1786 դուռ, մոտ 1945 պատուհան և 117 աստիճանահարթակ: Այն համարվում է աշխարհի ամենամեծ պալատներից մեկը։ Ձմեռային պալատի գույնը բազմիցս է փոխվել, այն տարբեր ժամանակներում եղել է դեղին, վարդագույն, իսկ այսօր՝ կանաչի ու սպիտակի համադրությամբ:

Ձմեռային պալատը բազմաթիվ պատմական իրադարձությունների կենտրոն է եղել: Այնտեղ տեղի է ունեցել 1905 թվականի «Արյունոտ կիրակի» ցույցը, 1917 թվականի հեղափոխության ժամանակ պալատը գրոհվել է (խորհրդային պատմության հայտնի «տեսարան»)։ Հետաքրքիր է, որ Ձմեռային պալատում այսօր էլ ապրում են կատուներ, որոնք պաշտպանում են թանգարանը կրծողներից: Այդ ավանդույթը գալիս է դեռ կայսրության ժամանակներից։

Ձմեռային պալատը հանդիսանում է ռուսական պատմության և մշակույթի խորհրդանիշը, այսօր այն աշխարհի ամենահայտնի թանգարաններից մեկի՝ «Էրմիտաժի» գլխավոր շենքն է։
