В СССР тема происхождения вдохновителя Октябрьской революции Владимира Ильича Ленина тщательно охранялась, являясь чуть ли не государственной тайной. Дело в том, что среди предков Ленина есть евреи. Советские руководители боялись, что этой информацией могут воспользоваться антисемиты. Не так давно вышла книга американского профессора Йоханана Петровского-Штерна, называющаяся "Еврейский вопрос Ленина".
В этой книге говорится, что прадед Ленина - Мошко Бланк - был евреем. Немецкая газета Sueddeutsche Zeitung опубликовала рецензию на эту книгу, указав, что в действительности еврейского в Ленине настолько мало, что ему даже отказали бы в праве на репатриацию. Его прадед Бланк крестился в преклонном возрасте, дед Ленина Исраэль был крещён сразу же при рождении, а затем женился на Анне Гроссчоп - немке со шведскими корнями.
Петровский-Штерн в своей книге рассказывает, что Ленин даже не догадывался о том, что среди его предков есть чистейший еврей - в РСДРП(б) было неприлично обсуждать национальности, люди вступали туда, грубо говоря, с национальностью "революционер". В рецензии Sueddeutsche Zeitung, между тем, указывается, что Ленин мог быть и ирландцем, и итальянцем, и по большому счёту это не имело никакого значения для хода мировой истории. Однако это может что-то значить для любителей теории "еврейского заговора".
