По данным экспертов, 104 культурных и исторических памятника "серьезно пострадали", 85 пострадали "в умеренной степени". В результате продолжающейся уже четвертый год гражданской войны в Сирии разрушены или повреждены более 290 объектов, внесенных в список Всемирного культурного наследия Организации Объединенных Наций по вопросам образования, науки и культуры (ЮНЕСКО). Об этом сообщается в опубликованном докладе Учебного и научно-исследовательского института ООН. Согласно его данным, полученным с помощью программы спутникового мониторинга, значительный ущерб нанесен десяткам объектов культурного наследия, в частности, в Алеппо и Дамаске. Серьезно пострадали также археологические памятники Пальмиры и древний замок крестоносцев Крак де Шевалье, расположенный в 65 км к западу от города Хомс. 104 культурных и исторических памятника "серьезно пострадали", 85 пострадали "в умеренной степени". Еще 77 памятников, по данным спутникового мониторинга, "вероятно, пострадали". В докладе также отмечается, что 24 таких памятника уничтожены полностью. Ранее ЮНЕСКО включило в список Всемирного историко-культурного наследия 40 памятников, находящихся на сирийской территории. Всего же в стране известны около 10 тыс. мест, где обнаружены следы древних цивилизаций.
