«Ժամանակ» թերթը գրում է. «Հայաստանի իշխանությունների տարբեր ներկայացուցիչներ ըստ էության նոր «փաստարկ» են հայտնագործել Եվրասիական տնտեսական միությանը Հայաստանի անդամակցությունը «հիմնավորելու» համար: «Փաստարկն» այն է, որ Ռուսաստանի նկատմամբ արեւմտյան պատժամիջոցները հավերժ չեն ձգվելու: Երկաթյա փաստարկ է իհարկե, խոսք չկա: Պարզապես խոսքը «ժանգոտ երկաթի» մասին է: ԱՄՆ նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման մի քանի օր առաջ տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել էր, որ իրենք շատ կոշտ են լինելու բոլոր նրանց հանդեպ, ովքեր միջազգային օրենքներ են խախտում եւ ոտնահարում են իրենց շահերը: Իհարկե հարցեր կարող են առաջանալ, թե ովքեր են «իրենքը», «իրենցը», միայն ԱՄՆ-ը, թե՞ նաեւ դաշնակիցները ներառյալ:
Կարելի է նաեւ քննարկել Օբամայի օբյեկտիվությունը եւ այլն, եւ այլն: Այս ամենը կարելի է, ոչ ոք չի արգելում: Սակայն ԱՄՆ-ի պես հզոր երկրի նախագահը անում է հայտարարություններ, որոնք վկայում են համաշխարհային զարգացումների վեկտորների առնվազն առաջիկա տրամաբանությունը, որում Ռուսաստանի հանդեպ պատժամիջոցների վերացման հետք անգամ չկա: Ավելին, ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսում ընդունվում է պատժամիջոցների ընդլայնման հնարավորություն տվող օրենք: Եվ վերջապես, երբ ԱՄՆ նախագահը հայտարարում է միջազգային ամբիոններից, որ Ռուսաստանը համաշխարհային սպառնալիքների շարքում է, ապա այստեղ կատակներն ըստ էության ավարտվում են, այստեղ ավարտվում է մանկապատանեկան խաղը կամ մանկամսուրային մակարդակի քաղաքականությունն ու ընկալումները:
Այստեղ սկսվում է դաժան համաշխարհային պայքարն ու մրցակցությունը եւ անկախ այս ամենում մեր համակրանքներից եւ հակակրանքներից՝ մենք պարտավոր ենք եզրահանգումներ ու հետեւություններ անել առկա իրողություններից: Իսկ այս իրողությունները ցույց են տալիս, որ Ռուսաստանի նկատմամբ պատժամիջոցները եւ «իզգոյացման» քաղաքականությունը ոչ միայն չեն ընդհատվելու, այլեւ ըստ էության նաեւ թափ են հավաքելու, որքան էլ որ Մոսկվան կփորձի Արեւմուտքում դաշնակիցներ գտնել եւ դիմադրել նման մտադրություններին: Այստեղ միջազգային օրենքների, նորմերի խնդիրներ չեն, այստեղ աշխարհակարգի ձեւավորման խնդիր է, եւ Ռուսաստանը առաջին «կարգից» դուրս թողնելու որոշումը կայացված է, սա ակնհայտ է»։
