Заведующий внутриполитическим отделом администрации президента Азербайджана Али Гасанов в связи с обысками в бакинском офисе радиостанции Государственного департамента США «Свобода» в интервью азербайджанскому государственному агентству «Азертадж» заявил, что сотни СМИ и НПО «беспрепятственно и свободно» действуют в Азербайджане. Требованием правительства Азербайджана является лишь не допустимость «злоупотребления» НПО и СМИ демократическими свободами.
В последнее время, отметил А.Гасанов, предвзятость, двойные стандарты по отношению к Азербайджану определенных кругов США и ЕС, некоторых международных организаций, уже переходят все этические рамки, не укладываются в отношения партнерства, противоречат принципам сотрудничества. Официальные лица, ряда медиа-органов и институтов гражданского общества рассматривают Азербайджан под микроскопом, хотя в самих этих странах (США и ЕС) есть нарушения прав человека, дискриминация на религиозной и национальной почве.
Ранее, как сообщало ИА REGNUM, Государственный департамент США заявил, что «глубоко обеспокоен» обыском, проведенным Генпрокуратурой Азербайджана в бакинской редакции «Радио Свобода»: «Мы призываем ответственные органы уважать международные обязательства Азербайджана по защите свободы слова в СМИ».
