Սովորաբար երբ որևէ պետություն անդամակցում է որևէ դաշինքի կամ միության, այն կատարում է հիմնականում երեք ասպեկտներևից ելնելով: Դրանք են.

2 Տնտեսական շահ
3. Քաղաքակրթական նույնականացում (երբ անդամակցող երկիրը իրեն քաղաքակրթորեն նույնականացնում է այդ դաշինքի կամ միության անդամ երկրների հետ, ինչպես որ Եվրամիության անդամ երկրներն են միմյանց հետ կապված եվրոպական քաղաքակրթական արժեքներով)...
Փաստորեն Սերժ Սարգսյանը և ՀՀԿ-ն Հայաստանը մտցրել են մի միություն, որը մեզ համար չի ապահովում տվյալ երեք ասպեկտներից և ոչ մեկը:
Անվտանգության ապահովման առումով ԵՏՄ-ն գործառույթներ չի իրականացնում, քանի որ այն ռազմաքաղաքական դաշինք չէ: Ճի՛շտ է, Հայաստանը անդամակցում է ԵՏՄ անդամ երկրներից բաղկացած ՀԱՊԿ-ին, սակայն այս կազմակերպության անդամ երկրներ հանդիսացող Ռուսաստանը և Բելառուսը զենք են վաճառում Ադրբեջանին, որն օգտագործվում է Հայաստանի և Արցախի դեմ և դժվար է հավատալ, որ հայ-ադրբեջանական պատերազմի դեպքում այս կազմակերպության անդամ երկրները կպաշտպանեն Հայաստանին, նամանավանդ, որ Ղազախստանը, Բելառուսը և շատ հաճախ նաև Ռուսաստանը պրոադրբեջանական դիրքորոշում են ընդունում և անտեսում են ՀՀ շահերը:
Ավելին, ՀԱՊԿ պաշտոնյաները մի քանի անգամ հայտարարել են, որ Արցախի վրա Ադրբեջանի կողմից հարձակվելու դեպքում իրենք չեն միջամտելու.Ակնհայտ է, որ Ռուսաստանը, որը ՀԱՊԿ պայմանագրով պարտավորվել է պաշտպանել Հայաստանին այլ պետությունների կողմից հարձակումից, Արցախը չի դիտարկում որպես ՀՀ մի մասը և որևէ պարտավորություն չի ստանձնել Արցախի նկատմամբ ոտնձգություններ կատարվելու դեպքում: Դա է վկայում վերջին դիվերսիաների կապակցությամբ ՀԱՊԿ ղեկավարության լռությունը և անգործությունը:
Տնտեսական առումով նույնպես ԵՏՄ-ին անդամակցելը որևէ լավ բան չի խոստանում, նախ այն պատճառով, որ Հայաստանը չունի ընդհանուր սահմաններ ԵՏՄ անդամ մյուս երկրների հետ և հետո էլ արևմտյան սանկցիաների և նավթի համաշխարհային գների անկման պատճառով ռուսական տնտեսությունը գտնվում է ծանր վիճակում և դա էլ ուղղակի կերպով զգալիորեն անդրադառնալու է մեր տնտեսության վրա:
Եվ վերջապես, Հայաստանի համար քաղաքակրթորեն ձեռնտու չէ գտնվել մի միության մեջ, որի անդամ բոլոր երկրներում ավտորիտար ռեժիմներ են հաստատված, որտեղ մարդու իրավունքների զանգվածային խախտումներ են տեղի ունենում, որտեղ ընտրություններ են կեղծվում և այլն... Ուստի Հայաստանի՝ ԵՏՄ-ին անդամակցելու հետո սպասվում է, որ ավելի կոշտ կերպով կխախտվեն մարդու իրավունքները, ընտրությունների կեղծումը ավելի բռնի ու լկտի ձևերով կկատարվի, իսկ ադրբեջանական դիվերսիաները Արցախի նկատմամբ, փորձը ցույց է տալիս, չեն պակասում...
