ԱԺ նախագահի մամուլի խոսնակ Արսեն Բաբայանը իր ֆեյսբուքյան էջում գրում է.
Գյումրիում կատարված ողբերգական դեպքերի զոհերի հուղարկավորությանը մասնակցում էր նաև ԱԺ նախագահ Գալուստ Սահակյանը: Ցավն աննկարագրելի էր, երբ մտանք եկեղեցի: Տեսարանն անբացատրելի էր, զգացողությունը անկառավարելի: Հուզումը չուներ չափ ու սահման: Այրվում էր ներսում ամեն բան, լեզու չկար խոսելու, բառ արտահայտելու: Միայն ճիչն էր, որ կարող էր դուրս գալ մարդու բերանից: Երբ արդեն դրսում էինք, ԱԺ նախագահի հետ կանգնած, մեզ մոտեցան լրագրողներ և հարցազրույց խնդրեցին ԱԺ նախագահից: Ես հնարավորինս փորձեցի բացատրել, որ այս պահին անհնար է, որ դժվար է, եթե ոչ անհնարին, խոսելը: Խնդրեցի թույլ տալ, որ չլինի հարցազրույց: Այնուհետև, որոշ ժամանակ անց, երբ արդեն քիչ թե շատ հնարավոր էր խոսել, կրկին մոտեցան լրագրողներն ու հարցազույց խնդրեցին Գալուստ Սահակյանից: ԱԺ նախագահը դժվարությամբ, բայց տեսնելով, որ պնդում են լրագրողները, վերջապես համաձայնեց խոսել: Հարցերը բազմաթիվ էին, ինչն էլ և ակնկալվում էր:
ԱԺ նախագահն իր խոսքում թույլ տվեց վրիպում: Լրագրողի հարցին պատասխանելիս «պատիժ» բառի փոխարեն ասեց՝ «մահապատիժ» բառը: Նախադասությունը ստացվեց այսպես՝ «…կարծում եմ ցմահ կլինի մահապատիժը»: Առավել քան ակնհայտ էր, որ Գալուստ Սահակյանն ասում էր՝ ««…կարծում եմ ցմահ կլինի ՊԱՏԻԺԸ»: Ես անգամ զարմացած էի, թե Գալուստ Սահակյանն ինչպես ուժ գտավ իր մեջ ու սկսեց պատասխանել հարցերին: Ամբողջ օրը կողքին էի, տեսնում էի ապրումները, հուզմունքն ու տանջվելը:
Այդ հոգեվիճակում վրիպումներն անխուսափելի էին: Իմանալով այս մասին ես վստահ էի, որ բոլորն էլ ադեկվատ կգտնվեն ու հուզմունքի այդ վիճակում հայտնած խոսքին ըմբռնումով կմոտենան: Ցավոք՝ սխալվեցի: Պարզվում է, որ որոշ մարդիկ, այդ թվում հանրությանը հայտնի, հիմա փորձում են օգտվել առիթից ու հումորային ժանրի են վերածել վրիպումը: Մարդիկ, ովքեր անգամ չբարեհաճեցին լինել գյումրեցու կողքին, հիմա սոցիալական ցանցում զվարճանում են, հրճվում, իրար ականջի բարձր փսփսում, թե տեսա՞ր ինչ ծիծաղելի բան ասեց Ազգային ժողովի նախագահը: Նման մարդկանց ոչինչ չունեմ ասելու, քան՝ մարդ եղեք վերջապես, այլ առիթ փնտրեք զվարճանալու: Եթե չեք գտնում, ապա վերհիշեք ձեր անցյալն ու ներկան: Հետևեք ձեր շարժումներին, խոսքերին… ամոթ է, մարդ մնացեք…
