Հայտնի փաստ է, որ պարանոյիկ հակումներ ունեցող մարդիկ սեփական ներքին հոգեվիճակը, զգայությունները, գաղափարները չեն տարբերակում արտաքին աշխարհում գոյություն ունեցող երևույթներից: Նրանք այլ մարդկանց վրա են պրոյեկտում սեփական ենթադրությունները, կասկածները, վախերը: Եվ այդպիսի մի համանմանությամբ էլ պատմական որոշակի փուլերում հասարակության քաղաքական կյանքում տիրապետող են դառնում, այսպես կոչված, «պարանոյիկ ոճ»-ին բնորոշ տրամադրությունները:
Այդ ոճը ենթադրում է դավադրությունների մասին ծայրաստիճան չափազանցում, կասկածամտություն և երևակայություն: Օրինակ` պարանոյիկ քաղաքական տրամադրությունները հստակորեն առկա էին ստալինյան քաղաքական համակարգում, որտեղ ամենուրեք փնտրում էին «վնասարարների» և «ժողովրդի թշնամիների», «դավադիրների», «ծպտյալ լրտեսների», «իմպերիալիզմի գաղտնի գաղափարախոսների» և այլոց: Այդ ավանդույթը հետստալինյան քաղաքական համակարգում շարունակվեց էլ ավելի ինտենսիվորեն, բայց արդեն «մերկացնում» էին «ներքին թշնամուն», «գաղափարական ընդիմախոսներին», «դիսիդենտներին» և այլոց:
Այսօր, պատմական զգալի հեռավորությունից պարզ է արդեն, որ Ստալինի կողմից «ժողովրդի թշնամիների» նկատմամբ այդպես հմտորեն խաղացված դատական գործընթացները ծառայում էին, մասնավորապես՝ զանգվածային գիտակցության մեջ պարանոիդալ վախերի ձևավորման համար, ինչն էլ լեգիտիմացնում էր կոմունիզմի և սոցիալիզմի կառուցման գործում բազում զոհերի մահվան արդարացվածությունը:
Բայց խնդիրն այն է, որ, չնայած, Ստալինն ու իր ռեժիմը վաղուց արդեն չկան, սակայն դեռ մնում են քաղաքական պարանոյայի ախտորոշիչ հետևանքները: Այսօր իսկ կան մարդիկ, որոնք, լինելով բացարձակապես ադեկվատ սոցիալական կյանքի տարբեր ոլորտներում (ընտանիքում, աշխատանքի վայրում և այլն), կարող են ընկնել ծայրահեղությունների մեջ և մեղադրել այս կամ այն ծպտյալ ուժերին՝ իրենց վրա իշխանություն գործածելու կամ իրենց քաղաքական անդորրը խաթարելու մեջ: Հետքաքրքիրն այն է, որ քաղաքական պարանոյայով տառապող մարդիկ իրենց տրամադրվածությամբ իսկապես ազնիվ ու անկեղծ են, քանի որ կարծում են, որ իրենց մոտեցումները թելադրված են բացարձակապես ռացիոնալ և ողջախոհ ենթադրություններով: Ընդ որում` «քաղաքական պարանոյա» ախտանիշի համար ամենևին էլ էական չէ, թե այդ մոլուցքով տառապող մարդը որ ուժերին է վերագրում իր կասկածամտությունը. դրանք կարող են լինել «բռնակալ Պուտինը և իր կլանը», «հրեա-մասոնները», «ամերիկացի ամենակուլ գլոբալիստները», «համաշխարհային ֆինանսաբանկային օջախները» և այլն:
Իսկ որպես հետևանք՝ քաղաքականության մեջ պարանոիդալ հակումներ ունեցող մարդիկ աշխարհը բաժանում են բինար (երկակի) հակադրությունների` մենք և նրանք, թշնամիներ և բարեկամներ, մերոնք և օտարներ: Այստեղ արդեն «քաղաքական պարանոյիկները» դառնում են իրական պատուհաս ողջ հասարակության համար, քանզի հայտնի փաստ է, որ մտքերը նյութականանալու հակումներ ունեն, անգամ, եթե դրանք ամբողջությամբ մտացածին են:
