Շատ տարօրինակ է, որ մեր ՎԱԽԵՑԵԼ է այն բանից, որ իրեն հայերը տեսել են, նույնիսկ ավտոմատով: Գյումրիում ռուսական զինվորը շատ սովորական բան է, նրան բոլորը վարժվել են: Հաճախ է պատահում, որ զինվորները շարասյունով քայլեն կամ քաղաքում, կամ՝ գյուղերով: ՛՛Քաղաքացիական՛՛ հագուստի համար մենք գնում էինք քաղաքի շուկա և տեղացիների հետ երբեք կոնֆլիկտ չի եղել: Հիշում եմ զինվորական շարասյուների ետևից հաճախ երեխաներ էին վազում և խնդրում էին իրենց քուղեր տալ, ,նրանք մեր մեջ երբեք սպառնալիք չեն տեսել: Ես Սիվերսկից /զորագնդի կայանավայրի անունը-Հ.Խ./ վազում էի մինչև Արափի գյուղը, երկու կիլոմետր է, հանդիպող հայերին ողջունում էի որպես հին ծանոթների և նրանք նույն կերպ էին պատասխանում, շատ սիրալիր մարդիկ են: Ես Պերմյակովի նման համազգեստով էի, բայց գյուղում ոչ մեկի մտքով չէր անցնում ինձ զորամաս հանձնել, ցույց էին տալիս խանութի տեղը, և ես հայերի մեջ ինձ լիովին անվտանգ էի զգում: Երբ մենք գնում էինք Կամխուդ կրակելու, գյուղերից մեկում (հավանաբար Մարմաշենում) հայ կանայք դուրս էին գալիս փողոց և ռուս զինվորներին հաց էին տալիս: Այնպես որ կարծում եմ այս գործը մութ գործ է, նա /Պերմյակովը-Հ.Խ./ նրանց /ավետիսյաններին-Հ.Խ./ չէր գնդակահարի իրեն տեսած լինելու համար:

Այո, ծառայությունը Հայաստանում արմատապես փոխել է իմ կարծիքը հայերի մասին, ես միշտ կարծել եմ, որ նրանք, կովկասյան հանրապետությունների մեծ մասի նման, ատում են ռուսներին: Շատ էի զարմանում օտար երկրում մեծահասակների վերաբերմունքից, իսկ վերաբերվում էին յուրայինների նման… Հիշում եմ և կոնյակ էին բերում, մի անգամ էլ պահակ էի, մի փոքրիկ թխված բերեց, անվճար, տաքսիստները 50 դրամով ողջ քաղաքով պտտեցնում էին, հետո մեր փոխարեն իրենք էին խանութ մտնում, որպեսզի սպաները մեզ չնկատեն… շատ բաներ են եղել…

Նստել կարդում եմ ու խոսքեր չեմ գտնում… քարեր են նետվում բազայի վրա, ինչ որ սադրանք է… Ես այնտեղ յոթ ամիս ծառայել եմ, ընդհանրապես գերազանց ենք ապրել… Ազնվորեն: Կուզենայի հիմա հանդիպել այն մարդկանց, ովքեր ինձ խնձոր ու լովաշ էին տալիս ուտելու, երբ շրջափակման մեջ կանգնած էինք և այնքան ուտել էինք ուզում: Այն մարդկանց, ովքեր մեզ կարտոֆիլ, պոմիդոր էին բերում Ալագյազի գյուղերից մեկում, մեկ ամիս մնացինք և ճաշարանում չէին կերակրում… Ես ողջ կյանքումս գյումրեցիների նման բարեկամաբար տրամադրված մարդկանց չեմ տեսել: Պետք չի սադրանքներ անել և գրել չտեսախ բաների մասին… երբ քեզ ողջունում են մարդիկ, ձեռքով են անում մեքենայով տեղափոխությունների ժամանկ … ապրելն ու ծառայելն էլ հաճելի են դառնում… Մի բան կուզեի ավելացնել… հույս ունեմ մեղավորը կպատժվի… մենք ողջ երկրով ողբում ենք անմեղ մահացածների համար…
