Трагедия в Гюмри, которая потрясала всю Армению, поражает своей жестокостью. Об этом заявил второй президент Армении Роберт Кочарян в интервью, опубликованном на его неофициальной странице в Фейсбук.
«Очевидно, что возмущение людей могло перерасти в массовые действия с непредсказуемыми последствиями. Для предотвращения этого были необходимы молниеносные действия властей. В первую очередь, однозначное заверение в том, что преступление будет расследовано армянскими правоохранителями, и преступник предстанет перед судом Армении (тем более у нас уже был подобный прецедент в 1999 году). Уверен, что это было необходимо как для армянской, так и для российской сторон, так как тем самым были бы предотвращены все попытки рассмотреть армяно-российские отношения в контексте этой трагедии. Наши чиновники своими размазанными, противоречивыми и спутанными заявлениями подлили масла в огонь, и придали оттенок национального унижения и без того напряженной ситуации. А этом уже взрывоопасное сочетание, в связи с чем, к сожалению, люди излили свой гнев на армянских полицейских.
Так или иначе эта трагедия ужасна. Я и моя семья выражаем глубокие соболезнование семье погибших и разделяем всеобщее горе», - сказал Кочарян.
