*Միջնադարյան Անգլիայում ծանր հանցագործություն էր համարվում սիրավեպը օտարերկրացու կամ օտարուհու հետ: Նման սիրային հանցագործության մեջ մերկացված քաղաքացիներին մեղադրում էին որպես պետական հանցագործների և դատապարտում քառատման: Ընդ որում, մեղադրյալները իրենց որևէ կերպ չէին կարող օգնել. նրանց զրկում էին ձայնի իրավունքից:
*Հին Չինաստանում ու մայաների թագավորությունում մարդը կարող էր կառափնարանի վրա հայտնվել պատմական ճշմարտությունը խեղաթյուրելու համար: Պատմության ճիշտ արտացոլմանը հետևում էին հատուկ ոստիկաններ, որոնք իրավունք ունեին ձերբակալել ցանկացածին, ով կասկածելի էր թվում: Ի դեպ, Չինաստանում գլխատելը մարդասիրական չէր համարվում. չինացիները հանցագործներին կախում էին կամ ստիպում ասեղներ կուլ տալ:
*Ինկվիզիցիայի շրջանում մեղավոր հռչակվածներին այրում էին խարույկի վրա: Դա վերաբերում էր ոչ միայն մարդկանց, այլև գրքերին ու նամակներին, որոնց վերաբերյալ կազմակերպվում էին դատավարություններ' ատենակալներով ու վկաներով: Հետաքրքիր է, որ սատանայի հետ ունեցած կապի մեջ չէին մեղադրում կանանց, ովքեր 50 կիլոգրամից ավելի էին կշռում: Համարվում էր, որ 50 կիլոգրամն այն առավելագույն քաշն է, որը կարող է բարձրացնել ցախավելը, իսկ առանց այդ տեղաշարժման միջոցի վհուկն, իհարկե, չէր կարող հասնել սատանայի պարահանդես:
*Աստծո գոյությունը կասկածի տակ դնող փիլիսոփայական աշխատությունների համար այդ ժամանակներում կարելի էր ցից հանվել կամ պատժվել ատամների շաղափումով: Փաստորեն, առաջին բորմեքենան ստեղծվել է հենց ինկվիզիցիայի դարաշրջանում:
*Միջնադարյան Ֆլորենցիայում հանցագործներին ցմահ դասում էին ազնվականների կարգը: Հանրապետական այդ ժամանակներում իրավունքներով օժտված էին միայն հասարակ մարդիկ, իսկ ազնվականներին չափազանց ծանր կյանք էր վերապահվում:
*Անգլիայում կարելի էր մահապատժի դատապարտվել ոչ ազնիվ մետաղներից ոսկի ստանալու համար:
*Հին Հունաստանում մահապատժի էին դատապարտում հանրային դաշտերից բանջարեղեն գողանալու համար:
*Պետական գանձարանից հափշտակություն կատարելու համար մահվան էին դատապարտում ինչպես Եվրոպայում, այնպես էլ Ռուսաստանում: Ռուսաստանում մահապատժից առաջ հանցագործին ծեծում էին կեչու ճյուղերով:
*Սիբիրի բնակեցումից հետո սկսեցին ոչ միայն աքսորել այնտեղ, այլև' այնտեղից: Աքսորական Օդոևսկին, օրինակ, մահացել է Օդեսայում, սարսափելի եղանակից, որից նույնիսկ տներն էին փլուզվում երկու-երեք տարվա ընթացքում:
*Պարսկաստանում անորակ գարեջուր եփելու համար դատապարտում էին մահվան: Մահապարտը կարող էր ընտրել երկու տարբերակ' կամ խեղդամահ լինել «իրեղեն ապացույցի» մեջ, կամ անորակ գարեջուրը խմել մինչև մահանալը:
