Իրանի գերագույն հոգևոր առաջնորդ այաթոլլա Ալի Խամենեին հայտարարել է, որ, ի պատասխան Արևմուտքի տնտեսական պատժամիջոցների խստացման, որը ձգտում է սահմանափակել Իսլամական Հանրապետության միջուկային ծրագրի զարգացումը, Թեհրանը կարող է կրճատել նավթի ու գազի մատակարարումները: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, հաղորդել է Իրանի ԻՌՆԱ պետական լրատվական գործակալությունը:
«Գազն անհրաժեշտ է և՛ Եվրոպային, և՛ ամբողջ աշխարհին: Իրանն ունի գործիք, որը նա կկարողանա կիրառել որպես պատժամիջոց, եթե դա անհրաժեշտ համարի»,-ասել է Խամենեին՝ Թեհրանում ելույթ ունենալով երկրի նահանգներից մեկի պատվիրակության առջև:
Խամենեին նշել է, որ եթե դիմադրություն ցույց չտանք Արևմուտքի կողմից գործադրվող ճնշմանը, ապա «նոր սահմանափակումներ և նոր պատժամիջոցներ կմտցվեն միջուկային ծրագրի կապակցությամբ»:
Իրանն օրական արդյունահանում է 2,7 մլն բարել նավթ և 600 միլիոն խորանարդ մետր գազ: Իսլամական Հանրապետությունը երրորդն է նավթի պաշարների ծավալով (համաշխարհային պաշարների շուրջ 10 տոկոսը կամ 18,8 մլրդ տոննա), զիջելով միայն Սաուդյան Արաբիային և Վենեսուելային: Տարվա ընթացքում Իրանը մտադիր է նավթի և գազի արտահանումից եկամուտները 30 տոկոսից կրճատել մինչև 25 տոկոս:
Անցած շաբաթ Եվրամիությունը վերականգնել է պատժամիջոցների գործողությունն Իրանի լցանավերի ազգային ընկերության և իրանցի գործարար Հոսեյն Գոլփարվարի նկատմամբ, ինչը և առիթ է դարձել Խամենեիի ելույթի համար:
2015 թվականի հունվարի վերջին Իրանը հրաժարվել է ԱՄՆ-ի դոլարն օգտագործել օտարերկրացի գործընկերների հետ հաշվարկներում: Իրանի Ազգային բանկի փոխտնօրեն Ղոլյամ Ալի Քամյաբը հայտարարել է, որ արտասահմանյան պարտավորագրեր կնքելիս Իրանը կօգտագործի այլ արժույթներ, մասնավորապես, յուան, եվրո, թուրքական լիրա, ռուսական ռուբլի և հարավկորեական վոն:
Եվրամիության և ԱՄՆ-ի պատժամիջոցները, որոնք Իրանի դեմ սահմանվել են 2012 թվականին, սահմանափակում են արտասահմանին նավթ վաճառելու հնարավորությունը: Պատժամիջոցների պատճառ է դարձել այն, որ Թեհրանը շարունակում է աշխատել միջուկային ծրագրի վրա: Եվրոպացիներն ու ամերիկացիները Իրանին կասկածում են միջուկային զենք մշակելու մեջ, սակայն իրանցիներն այդ մեղադրանքները մերժում են՝ պնդելով, որ ծրագիրը բացառապես խաղաղ բնույթ ունի:
