Այս տոնը մեզանում պաշտոնապես ընդամենը 10 տարվա պատմություն ունի, սակայն նրա մեջ մեր պատմության ժամանակներն ու տարաժամանակյա պատմությունն են, մեր հիշողության սահմաններն ու անսահմանափակ երեւակայությունը:
Մեր լեզուն մեր ազգային հպարտությունն է ու անվտանգության երաշխիքը: Այն թշնամանքի լեզու չէ: Պատմության տարբեր շրջաններում նրանով ենք ոգեշնչվել, նրանով պաշտպանվել ու մարտնչել թշնամու դեմ, նրանով ու հանուն նրա հաղթել: Այսօր էլ այն մեր հզոր հաղթաթղթերից մեկն է իր անկրկնելիությամբ, յուրօրինակությամբ ու ստեղծած բարոյական արժեհամակարգով:
Մենք պետք է ոչ միայն հպարտանանք նրանով, այլեւ անհատապես ու միասին, ընտանիքում ու դպրոցում, աշխատավայրում ու փողոցում պատասխանատու լինենք մայրենի լեզվի համար այնպես, ինպես հարազատի, հայրենիքի, հողի համար: Հակառակն այդ ամենի կորստյան սպառնալիքն է: Միաժամանակ, պիտի կարողանանք լեզուն օգտագործել հասարակական համերաշխության ու հանդուրժողականության մթնոլորտ, երկրի զարգացմանը նպաստող միջավայր ու պետության առաջընթացի պայմաններ ստեղծելու համար:
Մայրենի լեզվի օրվա առթիվ առանձնակի շնորհավորում եմ մանկապարտեզներում ու դպրոցներում լեզու սովորեցնող ու լեզվի հանդեպ սեր ու գորովանք սերմանող մանկավարժներին, ովքեր իրենց լուսավոր առաքելությամբ պատմական, անձնական ու հասարակական պատասխանատվություն են ստանձնել ներկայի ու ապագայի համար:
