Турция предупредила руководство оппозиционной Свободной сирийской армии (ССА) и сирийских курдов о военной операции по эвакуации находящейся в САР гробницы Сулеймана Шаха и охранявшего ее гарнизона, заявил премьер-министр Турции Ахмет Давутоглу во вторник.
В ночь на воскресенье турецкие военные вошли на сирийскую территорию в районе города Кобани и направились в сторону находившейся в 30 километрах от границы гробницы Сулеймана Шаха — деда основателя Османской империи султана Османа. Почетный караул гробницы насчитывал 39 турецких военнослужащих. В ходе эвакуации погиб один солдат. Гробница была перемещена ближе к турецкой границе — в район Эшма.
"Мы поставили в известность руководство ССА и партии (сирийских курдов — ред.) "Демократический союз" об операции, но не просили у них поддержки", — сказал Давутоглу на пресс-конференции в Будапеште, где он находится с визитом. Он добавил, что операция соответствовала нормам международного права.
В соответствии с Анкарским договором 1921 года, усыпальница является турецким анклавом на территории Сирии, где ее охраняют несколько турецких военнослужащих. Президент Турции Тайип Эрдоган неоднократно заявлял о готовности своей страны защищать усыпальницу. Власти Сирии осудили проведение военной операции Турции на своей территории, назвав ее агрессией.
