«Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին արդարության և ճշմարտության» բանաձևի հովանավոր, ԱՄՆ օրենսդիր Ադամ Շիֆը Կոնգրեսի պալատում հայտարարություն է արելˋ ոգեկոչելով սումգայիթյան ջարդերի 27-րդ տարելիցը: «Սումգայիթյան ջարդերը տեղի ունեցան ողջ Ադրբեջանի տարածքում իրականացվող հակահայկական արշավների շրջանակում' ադրբեջանական կառավարության բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյաների հովանավորությամբ և օժանդակությամբ, և բորբոքեցին բռնությունների նոր ալիք, որի գագաթնակետը եղան 1990 թվականի Բաքվի ջարդերը»,- ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ըˋ վկայակոչելով «Ասպարեզ» պարբերականը, հայտարարել է կոնգրեսականը:
Նա նշել է, որ օրինաչափորեն ադրբեջանական իշխանություններն աննշան ջանքեր են գործադրել մեղավորներին պատժելու համար, փոխարենըˋ մինչ օրս շարունակում են կոծկել այդ ոճրագործությունները և հերքել կառավարության բարձր պաշտոնյաների դերն այդ բռնությունները հրահրելու գործում: Կոնգրեսականը նշել է, որ սումգայիթյան ջարդերի և դրան հետևած ավելի լայնատարած հալածանքների արդյունքում վերացել է Ադրբեջանում բնակվող 450 հազարանոց հայ բնակչությունը և սկիզբ է դրվել Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ժողովրդի դեմ ուղղված պատերազմի:
«Սումգայիթի, Կիրովաբադի և Բաքվի ջարդերի զոհերի հարազատների և վիրավորվածների վերքերը ժամանակը չի ամոքել: Հակառակը, հայատյացությունը ողջունվում է ադրբեջանական հասարակությունում»,- հայտարարել է ՇիֆըˋԱՄՆ օրենսդիրներին հիշեցնելով հայ սպա Գուրգեն Մարգարյանի դաժան սպանությունն ադրբեջանցի հանցագործի կողմից: ԱՄՆ օրենսդիրը զգուշացրել է, որ Ադրբեջանն այսօր էլ շարունակում է իր վտանգավոր և սադրիչ վարքագիծը Հայաստանի և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի սահմանին:
Հիշեցնելով, որ այս տարվա ապրիլին լրանում է Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցը, նա շեշտել է. «Մենք չպետք է թույլ տանք, որ մարդկության դեմ իրագործված նման հանցագործությունները չճանաչված մնանˋ անկախ նրանից դրանք տեղի են ունեցել երեկ, 27 տարի առաջ, թե 100 տարի առաջ… Մեր բարոյական պարտքն է դատապարտել ատելության վրա հիմնված հանցագործությունները և հիշել զոհերինˋ հույսով, որ պատմությունը չի կրկնվի»:
