Ժուռնալիստների «Ասպարեզ» ակումբի նախագահ Լևոն Բարսեղյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրել է.
«Բալասանյանի՝ ԲՀԿ-ից հրաժարման պատճառաբանությունը ավելի քան խայտառակ է, քան բուն հրաժարման փաստը. իր հրաժարումը կապում է Ծառուկյանի հրաժարման հետ, եւ ոչ թե կուսակցության գաղափարների կամ ծրագրի հետ ծագած ինչ-ինչ անհամատեղելի հանգամանքների։ Այլ խոսքով, եթե իր հավանած մարդը վաղը ալկոհոլի դեմ պայքարի կուսակցություն ստեղծի, մեկ էլ տեսար՝ գնաց մտավ այդ կուսակցություն։
Հայտարարության վերջում փորձում է Գյումրու խնդիրների լուծման իր մտահղացումը թանկ ծախել պետական իշխանության վրա՝ իր այս քայլին հատուցում, երեւի։ Երեւի հաշվի չի առել, որ իշխանությունը ուժեղների հետ է հաշվի նստում, ոչ թե թույլերի։
Անցած մի քանի շաբաթում՝ Սերժի հարձակումից սկսած ահագին մարդ հարցնում էր, կարո՞ղ է Բալասանյանը ելնի ԲՀԿ-ից, կամ՝ ստիպեն հրաժարվել։ Բացատրում էի, որ չեմ կարծում, թեպետ Սերժիկը, որ ասել էր թեկնածություն դիր քաղաքապետի, կարող է եւ ասել՝ ել այսինչ կուսակցությունից, մտի այսինչ մեկը, բայց կասկածում էի, թե իր կամքով կհրաժարվի ԲՀԿ-ից, գոնե միայն այն պատճաւով, որ Ծառուկյանը բազմամիլիոն դրամի օգնություններ է հատկացրել ոչնչացող քաղաքին։ Երեւի ստիպեցին։ Ինքն էլ հիշեց, որ գործարաններ ու ահագին գույք ունի, հո ջուրը չի լցնելու գաղափարական պայքարի խաթեր։ Գաղափարական բառի վրա հո չխնդացի՞ք։
Երեւի հետո կսկսեն պատմել պատերի տակ, թե Ծառուկյանն ինքն է Բալասանյանի ապահովության համար առաջարկել ելնել
ԲՀԿ-ից մինչեւ անցնի վտանգը, հետո իբր կգա արդարության ժամը…
Բալասանյանի քաղաքական կենսագրության համար հիմա արդար կլինի, որ անդամակցի ՀՀԿ-ին, եթե ընդունեն, իհարկե, ապա հրաժարական տա քաղաքապետի պաշտոնից, առաջադրվի այդ պաշտոնի համար եւ վերընտրվի, եթե մարդիկ ընտրեն իհարկե։ Կատակի չեմ տալիս եւ խնդրում եմ ծաղրական բաներ չգրել, Ծառուկյանը, Բալասանյանը, մյուսները, ինչքան էլ պատասխանատու լինեն կամ չլինեն սեփական վարքի համար, այս ապականության գլխավոր մեղավորը Ս.Սարգսյանն է իր հակաժողովրդական ռեժիմով»։
