Երեկ տեղի ունեցած ԲՀԿ համագումարով պաշտոնապես ազդարարվեց Հայաստանի իշխանական երկու կուսակցություններից մեկի՝ որպես այդպիսին, այլևս գոյություն չունենալու մասին: Հայաստանի անկախության տարիներին բազմաթիվ կուսակցություններ են եղել, որոնք սպասարկել կամ ծառայել են իշխանություններին, այնուհետև ասպարեզից անհետացել: Գրում է «Ժողովուրդ»-ը:
Սակայն ԲՀԿ-ն տարբերվում էր նրանով, որ ի սկզբանե այն ստեղծվել էր իշխանական հզոր ռեսուրսների ներգրավմամբ, և ենթադրվում էր, որ ՀՀԿ-ի հետ մշտապես պետք է կիսի իշխանությունը: 2006 թվականի վերջից, այսինքն՝ այն պահից, երբ Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի հավանությամբ նրա մերձավորները սկսեցին «կառուցել» ԲՀԿ-ն, կարծիքներ կային անգամ, որ այն 2007 թվականի մայիսի 12-ի ԱԺ ընտրություններում հաջողության կհասնի և ԱԺ-ում ավելի ծանրակշիռ ներկայացած կլինի, քան ՀՀԿ-ն: Սակայն այդ ծրագիրը չհաջողվեց: 2012-ի մայիսի 6-ի ԱԺ ընտրություններում, ընդդիմադիր դաշտի հիմնական խաղացողի՝ «Հայ ազգային կոնգրես» դաշինքի ղեկավարության աջակցությամբ, ԲՀԿ-ն ևս մեկ անգամ փորձեց ՀՀԿ-ից առաջ անցնել, բայց կրկին ձախողվեց:
Թե՛ առաջին և թե՛ երկրորդ ընտրություններում ԲՀԿ-ն իր տրամադրության տակ ունեցել է ողջ այն գործիքակազմը, որը տնօրինել է ՀՀԿ-ն՝ թաղային հեղինակություններ, ընտրակաշառքներ, վարչական ռեսուրսներ և այսպես շարունակ: Բայց հենց այդ կուսակցությունը փորձեց իր ունեցածին ավելացնել նաև հեղափոխականի հագուստը, նրան հիշեցրին իր ծագումը, և ԲՀԿ-ն՝ որպես այդպիսին, հաշված օրերում դադարեց գոյություն ունենալ: Այսպիսով պետք է արձանագրենք, որ Հայաստանի երկրորդ իշխանական կուսակցության կյանքը տևեց ութ տարի»:
