Երկարաժամկետ հեռանկարում ԵՄ-ի բանակի ստեղծման գաղափարը կարող է քննարկվել Եվրամիության հունիսի գագաթնաժողովում՝ պաշտպանության բնագավառում Եվրոպայի քաղաքականության շուրջը բանավեճի շրջանակներում: Ինչպեսձ տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, մարտի 9-ին այս մասին ՏԱՍՍ-ին հայտնել է Եվրահանձնաժողովի ներկայացուցիչ Մինա Անդրեևան՝ մեկնաբանելով Եվրամիության բանակի ստեղծման հնրավորության վերաբերյալ Գերմանիայի զանգվածային լրատվամիջոցներում Եվրահանձնաժողովի ղեկավար Ժան Կլոդ Յունկերի արած հայտարարությունները:
«(Եվրահանձնաժողովի) նախագահ (Ժան Կլոդ) Յունկերը (արտաքին գործերի և անվտանգության քաղաքականության) գերագույն ներկայացուցիչ (Ֆեդերիկա) Մոգերինիի հետ համատեղ հունիսին Եվրամիության նիստի համար առաջարկություններ կնախապատրաստեն պաշտպանության բնագավառում Եվրոպայի քաղաքականության ամրապնդման վերաբերյալ: Դա լավ հնարավորություն կլինի այդ գաղափարների հետագա զարգացումը քննարկելու համար»,- նշել է նա:
«Իմաստ կունենար խթանել Եվրամիության երկրների ռազմական և պաշտպանական հնարավորությունները՝ ռազմական ծախսերն ավելի արդյունավետ դարձնելու համար»,- մեջբերել է նա Յունկերի՝ ավելի վաղ արած հայտարարությունը: Նրա խոսքով՝ «Եվրոպայի պաշտպանական հատվածի լավագույն կազմակերպումը կարող է ապահովել տարեկան մինչև 120 միլիարդ եվրոյի տնտեսում»:
Մարտի 8-ին գերմանական Welt am Sonntag թերթում հրապարակվել է հարցազրույց Եվրահանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ժան Կլոդ Յունկերի հետ: Դրանում Յունկերը հայտարարել է, որ ԵՄ-ին անհրաժեշտ է ստեղծել սեփական բանակ՝ որպես Եվրոպայի շահերի պաշտպանության միջոց:
Եվրամիությունն, ունենալով սեփական բանակ, կկարողանա հակազդել հանրակցության անդամ պետությունների նկատմամբ սպառնալիքին, համոզված է Յունկերը: Նրա կարծիքով՝ «ԵՄ-ի բանակը հարկավոր է ոչ թե նրա համար, որ անմիջապես գործի դրվի, այլ որ ակնարկ արվի Ռուսաստանին, որ մենք լրջորեն ենք վերաբերվում Եվրամիության արժեքների պաշտպանությանը»:
