«Հունաստանում ԱՄՆ նախկին դեսպան Դանիել Սպեքհարդը (Daniel Speckhard) պնդում է, որ եվրոպայի ֆինանսների նախարարները փնտրտուքի մեջ են հայտնվում, երբ հերթը գալիս է Հունաստանի պարտքի ճգնաժամին:
Հունաստանի ներկա պարտքի ճգնաժամի «սերմերը շաղ են տրվել» տարիներ առաջ: Հունաստանը ամենաաղքատ և առնվազն կայուն տնտեսություն ունեցող երկիր էր, երբ 2000թ-ին միացավ եվրոյին: Հունաստանի և Եվրոպայի առաջնորդները հույս ունեին, որ միանալով եվրոյին, երկիրը կզարգանա, ավելին արժույթը չի արժեզրկվի ու պարզապես կմնա մրցունակ:
Սակայն Հունաստանի կառավարությունը նման քայլեր չիրականացրեց: Փոխարենը այն ձեռք բերեց եվրոյի մուտք և միաժամանակ միության անդամներից թաքցրեց իր հսկա պարտքերը:
Երբ ֆինանսական ճգնաժամը Հունաստանի դուռը թակեց, վերջինս արդեն ելք չուներ նման տնտեսական դաժան իրականությունը «գորգի տակ պահել»:
Դանիել Սպեքհարդի կարծիքով, քանի որ Եվրոպան և Արևմուտքը միասնաբար կանգնած են Իսլամական Պետության և ռազմատենչ Ռուսաստանի համաշխարհային սպառնալիքների առջև`բաց թղնելով Հունաստանի պարտքի վերաբերյալ բանակցությունները, Հունաստանն այս ընթացքում կարողացել է դուրս մղվել եվրոյի ազդեցության ոլորտից:
Սպեքհարդը ընդգծում է, որ Հունաստանի ներկա իշխող ձախակողմյան կուսակցությունը սերտ հարաբերություններ ունի Ռուսաստանի հետ:
Հունաստանի վարչապետը, ընտրվելուց մեկ օր առաջ, հայտարարել էր, որ դեմ է Ռուսասատանի հանդեպ կիրառվող հետագա սանկացիաներին: Հունաստանի այլ պաշտոնյաներ, օրինակ ԱԳ նախարար Նիկոս Կոտզիասը, աշխատում էր մեղմել Ռուսաստանի դեմ հետագա սանկացիաների սպառնալիքը:
Տնտեսական առումով Հունաստանի` եվրոյի արժույթից դուրս գալը, կորուստ չպետք է համարել: Սակայն եթե հաշվի առնվի այն հանգամանքը, որ Արևելյան Եվրոպայում Ռուսաստանի ագրեսիայի դեմ պայքարելը կարևոր է` տարածաշրջանում քաղաքական և տնտեսական կայունությունը պահպանելու առումով, ապա Եվրոպան պետք է մեղմ դիրքորոշում ստանձնի Հունաստանի պարտքի վերաբերյալ, քանի որ մոտ ապագայում այն շատ օգտակար կլինի»,-գրում է պարբերականը:
