Վերջին շրջանում, ազատամարտիկների շուրջ ծավալված իրադարձությունները, բուռն արձագանք ու իրարանցում առաջացրեցին ներքաղաքական դաշտում: Հարուցեցին հարցեր, որոնց պատասխանները դեռևս գտնված չեն: Թարմ են հիշողություններն այն մասին, թե ինչպես երկու ԲՀԿ-ական պատգամավորներ` Ռուբեն Գևորգյանն ու Ռուստամ Գասպարյանը, որոշեցին միասին Ազատամարտիկների դաշինք ստեղծել, որն ուներ կոնկրետ քաղաքական նպատակներ և ֆինանսավորվելու էր Գագիկ Ծռուկյանի կողմից: Սակայն հետագայում` նրանց միջև առաջացած ինչ-ինչ խնդիրների պատճառներով, այդ դաշինքը ստեղծվեց միայն Ռ. Գասպարյանի կողմից, իսկ Ռ. Գևորգյանը ստեղծեց ազատամարտիկների մեկ այլ միություն` «Երդվյալ ազատամարտիկներ» անվանմամբ:
Ըստ ամենայնի, այս կառույցները քաղաքական նպատակ էին հետապնդում և ստեղծվել էին ԵԿՄ-ին հակակշռելու և նրա դիրքերը թուլացնելու համար, ինչը բավականին զայրացրել էր ԵԿՄ նախագահ Մանվել Գրիգորյանին: Իշխանություններին հարող ԵԿՄ-ի ու ընդդիմությանը հարող նորաստեղծ կառույցների միջև լարվածությունը հանգեցրեց այն բանին, որ պատգամավոր-ազատամարտիկների շրջանում սկսվեց միմյանց ուղղված վիրավորանքների ու «բացահայտումների» տեղատարափ, ինչն էլ ավելի սրեց ստեղծված իրավիճակը` միմյանց դեմ լարելով նույնիսկ շարքային ազատամարտիկներին, ովքեր մարտական ընկերներ լինելով հանդերձ, սկսեցին միմյանց մեղադրել ամենաստոր արարքների ու խաբեբայության մեջ: Ինչ խոսք, անընդունելի է ազատամարտիկներին տեսնել նման իրավիճակում, քանի որ հասարակության շրջանում նրանց մասին պատկերացումները բոլորովին այլ էին: Ինչի՞ համար էր պետք ժամանակին` երկրի սահմանները պաշտպանած և անձնվիրաբար կռված մարտիկներին այսօր դարձնել ներքաղաքական գործընթացների զոհ և ազատամարտիկների ինստիտուտը փորձել ծառայեցնել իրենց շահերին: Ազատամարտիկները, ինչպես նաև նրանց հետ կապված յուրաքանչյուր հարց պետք է հեռու լինեն քաղաքական գործընթացներից: Արդյունքում, այդ գործընթացները ոչ թե համախմբեցին ազատամարտիկներին, ինչպես հայտարարում էին ղեկավար անձինք, այլ ընդհակառակը, նպաստեցին նրանց պառակտմանը: Իսկ այն հարցին, թե ի՞նչ են անելու ազատամարտիկների նորաստեղծ միություններն այսօր, երբ Գագիկ Ծառուկյանը հեռացել է ակտիվ քաղաքականությունից և նախկին կուսակիցներին հասկացրել, որ այլևս չի ֆինանսավորելու նրանց, խուսափում են պատասխանել նույնիսկ իրենք` միությունների ղեկավարները:
