Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը հայտարարել է, որ Քուվեյթում ռազմաբազա բացելու որոշումը կայացնելու ժամանակաշրջանում նրանք նույն առաջարկն արել են նաև Սաուդյան Արաբիային, այս մասին հայտնում է թուրքական «Հյուրրիյեթ» պարբերականը:

Ըստ Էրդողանի՝ նա այդ մասին խոսել է Սաուդյան Արաբիայի թագավորի հետ և վերջինս խոստացել է մտածել այդ մասին: Սակայն մինչ օրս Թուրքիան որևէ պատասխան չի ստացել:

Ավելի վաղ հաղորդվել է, որ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը ստորագրել է երկրի խորհրդարանում ընդունված՝ Քաթարում թուրքական զորք տեղակայելու մասին որոշումը։

Հիշեցնենք, որ Թուրքիայի խորհրդարանը չորեքշաբթի հաստատել էր օրինագիծը, որը թույլ է տալիս Քաթարի թուրքական ռազմաբազայում թուրքական զորք տեղակայել: Օրինագիծն ընդունվել է 240 կողմ ձայնով:

Հայտնի է, որ Թուրքիան Քաթար կուղարկի 90 զինվորական, ռազմական ինքնաթիռ և նավ: Առաջիկա երկու ամսում զինվորականների թիվը նախատեսվում է հասցնել 250-ի:

Հիշեցնենք, որ օրեր առաջ Սաուդյան Արաբիան, Եմենը, Եգիպտոսը, Արաբական Միացյալ Էմիրությունները, Լիբիան, Մալդիվներն ու Բահրեյնը խզել են Քաթարի հետ դիվանագիտական կապերը: Բացի այդ, Քաթարը հեռացվել է Սաուդյան Արաբիայի գլխավորած և Եմենում գրոհայինների դեմ կռվող կոալիցիայից: Նախօրեին Քաթարի դեմ արշավին միացել են նաև այլ երկրներ։
