Չիչխանի կամ ոսկե ծառի պտուղները, ինչպես ժողովուրդն անվանում է, հատկապես օգտակար են գարնանային ավիտամինոզի ժամանակ: Շնորհիվ վիտամինների, կենսաբանական ակտիվ նյութերի և միկրոտարրերի պարունակության, չիչխանը օրգանիզմի վրա ընդհանուր ամրացնող, տոնուսավորող ազդեցություն ունի, նպաստում է սպիտակուցային, ածխաջրատային, ճարպային փոխանակություններին:
Չիչխանը ծաղկում և պտղակալում է ամեն տարի' միշտ էլ տալով առատ բերք: Բավականաչափ ցրտադիմացկուն է, լուսասեր, կայուն' շոգերի նկատմամբ, իսկ հողի հանդեպ առանձնապես պահանջկոտ չէ: Բազմանում է սերմերով, վեգետատիվ եղանակով և մերձարմատային շյուղերով:
Փշատազգիների ընտանիքին պատկանող, 0,5 -3,5 մ բարձրության, խոշոր, փշոտ թուփ է, երբեմն էլ' ծառ: Մատղաշ ընձյուղներն արծաթագույն են, իսկ հետագայում դառնում են գորշ ժանգագույն: Տերևները երկար, նշտարաձև են: Ծաղիկները պարզ են, շատ մանր, դեղին: Պտուղները մսալի են, հարթ, փայլուն, նարնջագույն' ճյուղերին կպած: Ծաղկում է ապրիլ-մայիս ամիսներին, իսկ պտուղները հասունանում են սեպտեմբեր-հոկտեմբեր ամիսներին' թփի վրա մնալով մինչև գարուն: Աճում է հիմնականում խոնավ տեղերում, գետափերին, ճահճուտներում:
Բուժման նպատակով օգտագործվում են բույսի պտուղներն ու սերմերը, դրանցից ստացվող յուղը, որոշ դեպքերոում նաև' տերևները: Պտուղները հավաքում են ձմռանը, երբ դրանք սառչում են ու ձեռք են բերում հաճելի թթվահամություն: Պտուղներն իրենց համը և բուժական հատկանիշները պահպանում են նույնիսկ սառած վիճակում: Տերևները հավաքում են ամբողջ սեզոնի ընթացքում, չորացնում հով տեղում' միջանցուկ քամու տակ: Սակայն դեղաբույսը համընդհանուր ճանաչում է ձեռք բերել իր գորշ կարմրավուն, յուրահատուկ համով ու հոտով յուղի շնորհիվ, որի պահանջը չափազանց մեծ է:
Չիչխանի յուղը հայտնի է վերքերն ապաքինող, հակաբորբոքային հատկություններով, այն օգտագործում են
այրվածքների բուժման, հակալնդախտային, ցավազրկող, մազերն ամրացնող, մաշկային որոշ հիվանդությունների ապաքինման համար: Յուղն, ընդհանրապես, խթանում է բոլոր տեսակի վերքերի գրանուլացիան և էպիթելիզացիան, վերացնում ցավը, արագացնում բուժման ընթացքը: Այն ցուցված է ցրտահարության, ստամոքսի և 12-մատնյա աղու խոցային հիվանդության, օրգանիզմի ճառագայթային ախտահարումների բուժման համար:
Յուղը լայնորեն օգտագործվում է գինեկոլոգիական պրակտիկայում: Այն արդյունավետ ներգործություն է ունենում կոլպիտների, էնդոցերվիցիտների և արգանդի վզիկի էրոզիայի դեպքում: Բազմաթիվ կլինիկական տվյալներ հաստատել են յուղի օգտակար ներգործությունը ծերունական կատարակտայի, շաքարային դիաբետի, աչքի որոշ հիվանդությունների, անեմիաների, գաստրիտների, լորձաթաղանթների ատրոֆիկ փոփոխությունների, հիպերտոնիկ հիվանդության ընթացքի վրա և այլն:
Պտուղները թարմ կամ սառած վիճակում ուտում են հիպո- կամ ավիտամինոզի և ընդհանուր հյուծվածության ժամանակ:
Պտուղներից պատրաստված եփուկն օգտակար է ստամոքսաաղիքային ուղու հիվանդությունների ժամանակ: Սերմերից պատրաստված եփուկն օժտված է հիանալի լուծողական հատկությամբ, սակայն ճյուղերի և տերևների եփուկը միանգամայն հակառակ ազդեցություն ունի և օգտագործվում է լուծի ժամանակ: Պտուղների և տերևների եփուկը օգտակար է մազաթափության և ճաղատության, ինչպես նաև ռևմատիզմի և պոդագրայի ժամանակ:
Տերևներից և մատղաշ ընձյուղներից եփուկ պատրաստելու համար 1 ճաշի գդալ մանրացրած հումքը 10 րոպե եռացնում են 1 բաժակ ջրում, ապա հովացնում ու քամում, և ըմպում 1-ական ճաշի գդալ' օրական 3 անգամ:
Չիչխանի պտուղներն ունեն սննդային մեծ արժեք: Իզուր չէ, որ չիչխանին անվանում են սիբիրյան անանաս: Պտուղներից պատրաստում են մուրաբա, կիսել, կոմպոտ, պաստեղ, մրգահյութ, գինի և թրմօղի:
Պտուղներով համեմում են ձկնեղենը, թխվածքները, որոշ տեսակի խմիչքներ: Պտղահյութը' շաքարով, որպես բազմավիտամինային հարուստ հումք, կարելի է պահել շատ երկար ժամանակ: Որոշ տեղերում պտուղները խառնում են ալյուրին, հացին' յուրահատուկ համ ու հոտ տալու համար: Տերևներն օգտագործվում են կաշի դաբաղելու համար: Նրանցից (խառնելով երկաթային աղերի հետ) ստացվում է սև գորշավուն, իսկ պտուղներից' դեղին գույնի ներկ: Չիչխանը վաղուց դարձել է մշակովի, մեղրատու է: Ունի ամուր, լավ հղկվող բնափայտ, որից պատրաստում են մանր կիրառական առարկաներ:
