Քաղաքագետ Լևոն Մելիք-Շահնազարյանը չի բացառում Միացյալ Նահանգների կողմից պետական մակարդակով Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի Հանրապետության ճանաչումը: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը' սեպտեմբերի 3-ին նման տեսակետ հայտնեց քաղաքագետը' լրագրողներին փոխանցելով իր ունեցած տեղեկություններն այն մասին, որ օգոստոսի 4-ին ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտում խորհրդակցություն է տեղի ունեցել' Արցախի անկախությունը պետական մակարդակով ճանաչելու վերաբերյալ:
«Իմ ունեցած տվյալներով' օգոստոսի 4-ին ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտում խորհրդակցություն է ընթացել այդ պետության կողմից Արցախի ճանաչման վերաբերյալ' որպես հակամարտության կարգավորման տարբերակ: Ըստ երևույթին, ոչ ամբողջական որոշում է կայացվել, որն էլ Կալիֆորնիա նահանգի որոշումն էր: Ես չեմ բացառում նաև ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից Արցախի անկախության ճանաչումը, եթե մենք քայլեր ձեռնարկենք այդ ուղղությամբ»,- մեկնաբանեց քաղաքագետը:
Նրա դիտարկմամբ' Արևմուտքին անհրաժեշտ է խաղաղություն հաստատել տարածաշրջանում' նավթից, գազից օգտվելու և, որ ավելի կարևոր է, այն որպես տարանցիկ տարածք օգտագործելու համար: Ի տարբերություն Արևմուտքի' Ռուսաստանին ձեռնտու է անկայունության պահպանումը՝ իր ազդեցությունը տարածաշրջանի երկրների վրա պահպանելու նպատակով:
Անդրադառնալով օգոստոսի 10-ին Հայաստանի, Ռուսաստանի և Ադրբեջանի նախագահների' Սոչիում կայացած հանդիպմանը' քաղաքագետը կարծիք հայտնեց, որ դրանք ոչ թե հուլիս-օգոստոսին հայ-ադրբեջանական սահմանին և շփման գծում լարվածության սրացման հետևանքն էին, այլ պատճառը: «Ես համարում եմ, որ այդ հանդիպման պատճառով են միջադեպերն սկսվել: Հանդիպումը նախապես ծրագրված էր, և Ադրբեջանի նախագահը փորձ արեց հաղթական տեսքով ներկայանալ դրան' իր պահանջները ներկայացնելու համար, սակայն տապալվեց»,- ասաց քաղաքագետը' հավաստիացնելով, որ Ադրբեջանն այդ օրերին շատ ավելի մեծ կորուստներ է տվել, քան հրապարակվել է: «Ոսկանապատը մոտ 43 զոհված ադրբեջանցիների անվանացուցակ ունի»,- ասաց նա:
Իսկ ինչ վերաբերում է առաջիկայում ակնկալվող Սարգսյան-Ալիև հանդիպմանը' Մելիք-Շահնազարյանը նշեց, որ ընթացիկ զարգացումները նորից լարվածության սրացում չեն կանխորոշում:
