ՀՀ Նախագահ, Հայաստանի շախմատի ֆեդերացիայի նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանն այսօր Խ. Աբովյանի անվան հայկական պետական մանկավարժական համալսարանում մասնակցել է հոկտեմբերի 16-18-ը անցկացվող «Շախմատը դպրոցներում» խորագրով միջազգային գիտաժողովի բացմանը:

ՀՀ կրթության և գիտության նախարարության, Շախմատի միջազգային ֆեդերացիայի (ՖԻԴԵ), Հայաստանի շախմատային ֆեդերացիայի և Հայաստանի շախմատի ակադեմիայի կողմից կազմակերպված և Խ. Աբովյանի անվան հայկական պետական մանկավարժական համալսարանի հետ համագործակցությամբ անցկացվող գիտաժողովին ելույթներով հանդես են եկել ՀՀ կրթության և գիտության նախարար Արմեն Աշոտյանը, Շախմատի միջազգային ֆեդերացիայի նախագահ Կիրսան Իլյումժինովը, Հայաստանի շախմատի ֆեդերացիայի նախագահի առաջին տեղակալ Սմբատ Լպուտյանը: Բանախոսները գիտաժողովը փորձի փոխանակման հիանալի առիթ են համարել, ինչը, նրանց համոզմամբ, կխթանի շախմատի հետագա զարգացումը, կնպաստի դրա դերի և կարևորության բարձրացմանը կրթական համակարգում:

Սերժ Սարգսյանն այնուհետև ՖԻԴԵ-ի նախագահ Կիրսան Իլյումժինովի և «Շախմատը դպրոցներում» միջազգային գիտաժողովի մասնակիցների հետ ներկա է գտնվել շախմատի աշխարհի կրկնակի չեմպիոն Տիգրան Պետրոսյանի քանդակի բացմանը' նրա անունը կրող շախմատի տանը: Քանդակը, որ Տիգրան Պետրոսյանի շախմատային արքա դառնալու կապակցությամբ 1965թ. ստեղծել է հայ նշանավոր քանդակագործ Արա Սարգսյանը, ավելի քան կես դար գտնվել է քանդակագործի հարազատների մոտ' նրա տուն-թանգարանում: Տիգրան Պետրոսյանի 85-ամյակի կապակցությամբ Արա Սարգսյանի ընտանիքը որոշել է այն նվիրել շախմատի տանը:

ՀՀ Նախագահը ներկա է գտնվել նաև մայրաքաղաքի Մալաթիա-Սեբաստիա վարչական շրջանում նորաստեղծ շախմատի դպրոցի բացման արարողությանը: Դպրոցում կարող է անվճար ուսանել 5-ից 8 տարեկան մինչև 350 երեխա, ինչպես մայրաքաղաքի այլ վարչական շրջաններում գործող դպրոցների սաները:
