Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևի համար ցանկալի կլիներ, որպեսզի նա առաջիկայում Սոչիում կայանալիք նախագահների հանդիպմանը ներկայանար որպես միկրոմենամարտը հաղթած երկրի նախագահ, սակայն լրիվ հակառակը կլինի. նա կներկայանա որպես պարտված նախագահ: Օգոստոսի 5-ին լրագրողների հետ հանդիպմանը նման տեսակետ հայտնեց քաղաքագետ Լևոն Մելիք-Շահնազարյանը: «Ես կարծում եմ, որ սա արդեն առավելություն է տալիս մեր երկրի նախագահին, որպեսզի նա կարողանա իր պայմանները թելադրել և մեծ արդյունքների հասնել»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ ասաց քաղաքագետը:
Նա ընդգծեց, որ Ադրբեջանի նախագահի համար անսպասելի հարված է եղել վերջին օրերի անհաջողությունը: «Որքան էլ նրանք թվեր հորինեն, թե հայերն ավելի շատ զոհեր են տվել և այլն, իրենք էլ շատ լավ գիտեն իրականությունը, մենք էլ: Իրենք տվյալ պարագայում պարտված են, և դա ճնշելու է Ալիևին առաջիկա հանդիպման ժամանակ: Ես կանխատեսում եմ, որ մեր նախագահը կօգտագործի այս առավելությունը»,- նշեց նա: Անդրադառնալով հարցին, թե ի՞նչ արդյունքների կարող է հասնել ՀՀ Նախագահը հանդիպման ընթացքում՝ Մելիք-Շահնազարյանն ընդգծեց, որ մեզ համար առաջնային կարևորություն ունեցող արդյունք կարող է լինել այն, որ հաջողվի Ադրբեջանին համոզել դիպուկահարներին հետ քաշել շփման գծից, ինչպես նաև հրաժարվել դիվերսիաներից և ուղիղ հարձակումներից, որոնք եղան այս օրերի ընթացքում: Եթե մեզ հաջողվի նրանց համոզել հրաժարվել այս ամենից, դա արդեն մեծ արդյունք կլինի:
Անցած գիշեր և այսօր առավոտյան ադրբեջանական կողմը կրկին խախտել է հրադադարի պահմանման ռեժիմը հայ-ադրբեջանական պետական սահմանագոտու տարբեր հատվածներում` կիրառելով հրաձգային, այդ թվում` խոշոր տրամաչափի զինատեսակներ:
Ստացված օպերատիվ տվյալների համաձայն` օգոստոսի 4-5-ն ընկած ժամանակահատվածում հայ-ադրբեջանական պետական սահմանագոտում հրադադարի պահպանման ռեժիմը խախտվել է 45 անգամ: Տարբեր տրամաչափի հրաձգային զինատեսակներից հայ դիրքապահների ուղղությամբ արձակվել է ավելի քան 600 կրակոց: Հայկական կողմից պատասխան կրակ է բացվել 11 անգամ: Հակառակորդի ուղղությամբ արձակվել է 211 կրակոց: Հայկական կողմից տուժածներ չկան:
ՀՀ զինված ուժերը վստահորեն վերահսկում են սահմանային իրավիճակը շփման գծի ամբողջ երկայնքով, խստորեն հետևում են հրադադարի ռեժիմի պահպանմանը և իրավիճակին համարժեք գործողությունների են դիմում միայն հակառակորդի կողմից արձանագրվող նպատակային խախտումների դեպքում:
ՌԴ արտաքին գործերի նախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովը հաստատել է, որ մոտակա օրերին սպասվում է ՌԴ նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի առանձին հանդիպումները Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի նախագահների հետ: Նա ընդգծել է, որ երբ նրան նույն պահին և նույն օրը հայտնվեն նույն տեղում, անհնար կլինի չխոսել ԼՂ հակամարտության մասին:
