New Internationalist բլոգն անդրադարձել է Ադրբեջանին, մի երկրի՝ «Եվրատեսիլից» ու Formula 1-ից անդին՝ փորձելով միջին վիճակագրական եվրոպացուն ներկայացնել, թե ինչ է այն: Այն եվրոպացուն, որն, աղբյուրի ձևակերպմամբ, ուզում է իմանալ՝ առհասարակ եվրոպական երկի՞ր է դա, թե՞ ոչ: Եթե ոչ, ապա ինչո՞ւ է Բրիտանիայի վարչապետն այդքան մտերիմ Իլհամ Ալիևի հետ: Եվ ինչո՞ւ է Բրիտանիայի էնեգետիկայի նախարար Մայքլ Ֆելոնն այցելել այդ երկիր անցած ամիս:
Ըստ անդրադարձի՝ ամեն բան մի փոքր ավելի պարզ է դառնում, երբ նկատի ենք առնում, որ Բաքուն համարյա բնական գազի հանգույց է, իսկ British Petroleum նավթագազային ընկերությունը մեծ շահեր ունի այդ երկրում:
Աղբյուրի բնորոշմամբ՝ Բաքվում ցանկանում են դեպի իրենց երկիր գրավել Մերձավոր Արևելքում շրջանառվող կապիտալը, ուստի փորձում են իրենց իբրև մի նոր Դուբայ դիրքավորել:
Անդրադարձ է արվում այդ երկրում իրավապաշտպանների հետապնդումներին, մասնավորապես՝ հայտնի իրավապաշտպան Լեյլա Յուսուֆի գործին:
Նշվում է, որ Լեյլան ու իր ամուսին Արիֆն այդ հետապնդումների ֆոնին կարողացել են իրենց միակ երեխային՝ Դինարային, դուրս բերել Նիդեռլանդներ, որտեղ նա ապահով է:
Աղբյուրը նաև հավելում է, որ ԵՄ-ն 2007-ից ի վեր 27.9 մլն ԱՄՆ դոլարի ֆինանսավորում է տրամադրել Ադրբեջանի հասարակական կազմակերպություններին, ուստի ԵՄ-ի ամենաբարձր շրջանակներում մտահոգված են Ադրբեջանում մարդու իրավունքների վիճակով:
Այս առնչությամբ նշվում է, որ Եվրահանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ժոզե Մանուել Բարոզուն և արտաքին քաղաքականության հարցերով գերագույն հանձնակատար Քեթրին Էշթոնը Բաքու իրենց այցերի ժամանակ նշել են առողջ հասարակություն ունենալու համար քաղաքացիական հասարակության զարգացման կարևորությունը:
Ադրբեջանում մարդու իրավունքների իրական պատկերի ֆոնին նշվում է բրիտանացիների իրական անելիքը, եթե «բարոյական տուրիզմ» ասվածը որևէ բան նշանակում է: Ըստ հրապարակման՝ օրինակ՝ Formula 1-ի երկրպագուներն Ադրբեջանում այդ ավտոարշավի անցկացման նախօրեին կարող են գրել ղեկավար մարմնին՝ պահանջելով չեղարկել 2016-ի ավտոարշավը Բաքվում: Ինչպես նաև՝ գրել տեղացի քաղաքական գործիչներին և իրենց մտահոգությունները հայտնել:
