Ցեղասպանության ժխտումը նոր ոճիրների իրագործման և մարդու իրավունքների դեմ իրականացվող մշտական հանցագործությունների շարունակությունն է: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին ABC Religions and Ethnics կայքում հրապարակված հոդվածում գրել է ամերիկացի լրագրող Ռոբերտ Քափլանը:

Նա անդրադարձել է Օսմանյան կայսրությունում հայերի դեմ իրականացված ցեղասպանությանը, ինչպես նաև դրան հաջորդած ասորիների, հույների և հրեաների կոտորածներին: Քափլանը գրում է, որ 1915 թվականի ապրիլի 24-ին մեկ գիշերվա ընթացքում հայկական համայնքի առաջատար դեմքերը, մտավորականներն ու քահանաները' ընդհանուր հաշվարկով 625 մարդ, ձերբակալվել են և ենթարկվել լիակատար ոչնչացման: Նա նշում է, որ այս իրադարձությունը ազդարարեց 20-րդ դարի առաջին գլխավոր ցեղասպանությունը, որը դարձավ մարդկության պատմության ամենաարյունահեղ շրջանը:

«Այս ամենին հետևեց Օսմանյան կայսրության անմեղ ժողովուրնդերի զանգվածային սպանդը այն էլ այնպիսի միջոցներով, որոնք մինչ օրս էլ սարսափելի է պատկերացնել: Մինչև 1918 թվականը, երբ Թուրքիան խաղաղություն խնդրեց, շուրջ 1.5 միլիոն հայեր սպանվեցին, ոչնչացվեց այն մարդկանց խումբը, որը մարդկության սկզբնավորումից ի վեր բնակվել է «Բարեբեր մահիկի» տարածքում»,- գրում է Քափլանը: Նա նշում է, որ այդպիսով, սակայն, թուրքերը չբավարարվեցին. ասորիները կոտորածների արդյունքում կորցրին իրենց բնակչության մոտ մեկ երրորդը' 75 հազար մարդ, ավելի ուշ Փոքր Ասիայից արտաքսվեցին հույները, իսկ Անատոլիայի հրեաները պոգրոմի ենթարկվեցին:

Քափլանն արձանագրել է, որ ներկայում էլ թուրքական կառավարությունը վճռական կերպով հետապնդում է ժխտման պաշտոնական քաղաքականություն' այն համարելով նաև որպես արտերկրում իր դիվանագիտական անձնակազմի պարտականությունը: Բացի այդ թուրքական պետությունն իրականացնում է լավ ֆինանսավորում ունեցող հակաքարոզչություն և բողոքում է ցանկացած մարդու դեմ, ով հրապարակայնորեն խոսում է հակառակի մասին: «Թուրքական ազգայնականությունը, որն ընթանում է ցեղասպանության ժխտման քաղաքականությանը զուգահեռ, մնում է իբրև երկրորդ համաշխարհայինից առաջ չվերափոխված ռասիստական ազգայնականության վերջին ֆորպոստ»,- գրում է Քափլանը:
