Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցին ընդառաջ սոցիալական ցանցերի օգտատերերը կոչ են անում Google-ին 2015-ի ապրիլի 24-ին հատուկ doodle տեղադրել: Այդ առթիվ պատրաստված doodle-ով և #ArmenianGenocideDoodle հաշթեգով օգտատերերը ցանկանում են աշխարհին տեղեկացնել համաշխարհային պատմության դառը էջերից մեկի մասին: Նոր doodle-ի հեղինակն է վեբ դիզայներ, ծրագրավորող Վանանդ Մկրտչյանը:
«Քանի որ Գուգլը ներկայիս հասարակության համար ինֆորմացիայի հիմնական աղբյուրն է, պարզապես ցանկացա նման կերպով համաշխարհային հանրությանը տեղեկացնել այդ սև օրվա մասին: Բայց պարզվում է դա այդքան էլ հեշտ չի: Գուգլի կողմից այս դիմումը շատ քաղաքական ձևով է դիտվում, այդ իսկ պատճառով մինչ օրս չի տեղադրվել»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց Մկրտչյանը:

Առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմի նախօրեին Օսմանյան կայսրությունում ապրում էին երկու միլիոնից ավելի հայեր: Շուրջ մեկուկես միլիոն հայ սպանվեց 1915-1923թթ. ժամանակահատվածում, իսկ մնացածները կամ բռնի մահմեդականացվեցին, կամ ապաստանեցին աշխարհի տարբեր երկրներում: 1915թ. ապրիլի 24-ին սկիզբ առած ձերբակալություններով (հիմնականում' Օսմանյան կայսրության մայրաքաղաք Կոստանդնուպոլսում) եւ դրան հետեւած հարյուրավոր հայ մտավորականների ոչնչացումով սկսվեց հայ բնակչության բնաջնջման առաջին փուլը: Հետագայում աշխարհասփյուռ հայերը ապրիլի 24-ը սկսեցին նշել որ պես Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակի օր:
