Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանն այսօր ընդունել է Ուրուգվայի Արևելյան Հանրապետության փոխնախագահ, Սենատի նախագահ Դանիլո Աստորիին: Նախագահը ողջունել է բարձրաստիճան հյուրին և գոհունակությամբ փաստել, որ անցնող 2014 թվականը հայ-ուրուգվայական բարեկամական հարաբերությունների զարգացման համար խոստումնալից ու կարևոր տարի է և այն, անկասկած, երկու երկրների փոխհարաբերություններն ավելի խորացնելու նոր հեռանկարներ է բացում:
Սերժ Սարգսյանը նշել է, թե ամենաջերմ զգացումներով է հիշում իր պետական այցը եղբայրական Ուրուգվայ և հանդիպումը Նախագահ Խոսե Մուխիկայի հետ: Հանրապետության Նախագահը խնդրել է Դանիլո Աստորիին՝ իր ջերմ ողջույնները փոխանցել Խոսե Մուխիկային, իսկ նորընտիր Նախագահ Տաբարե Վասկեսին՝ շնորհավորանքներն ու բարեմաղթանքները: Նախագահն ընդգծել է, որ այդ այցի ժամանակ ևս մեկ անգամ համոզվել է, թե Ուրուգվայում ինչպիսի հարգալից վերաբերմունք կա Հայաստանի և հայ ժողովրդի նկատմամբ և անկեղծ ցանկություն՝ բոլոր ոլորտներում միջպետական հարաբերություններն ու համագործակցությունը զարգացնելու: Ուրուգվայի փոխնախագահ, Սենատի նախագահ Դանիլո Աստորին նշել է, որ իր երկրի ղեկավարության մեջ և հասարակության բոլոր շերտերում Հայաստանի նկատմամբ բարեկամական ջերմ վերաբերմունքն ամուր հիմքեր ունի: Հանդիպմանն անդրադարձ է եղել նաև հայ-ուրուգվայական տնտեսական փոխգործակցությունն ընդլայնելու և զարգացնելու հնարավորություններին: Զրուցակիցները երկուստեք ընդգծել են միջպետական հարաբերություններում ակնհայտորեն մեծ դեր ունեցող խորհրդարանական դիվանագիտության կարևորությունը:
Սերժ Սարգսյանը և Դանիլո Աստորին համակարծիք են եղել, որ երկու երկրների խորհրդարաններում գործող բարեկամության խմբերի գործունեությունն ավելի է ամրապնդում առկա բարեկամությունը: Հանրապետության Նախագահը ևս մեկ անգամ երախտագիտություն է հայտնել Ուրուգվայի իշխանություններին և ժողովրդին՝ Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման գործում դեռևս 1965թ. ունեցած անգնահատելի ավանդի համար և ընդգծել, որ այդպիսով սկիզբ դրեց այդ ոճրագործության միջազգային ճանաչման գործընթացին՝ իր արձագանքը գտնելով ամբողջ աշխարհում: Նախագահի խոսքով, ընդամենն օրեր առաջ հարավամերիկյան մեկ այլ երկրի՝ Բոլիվիայի խորհրդարանի երկու պալատների կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը գալիս է ևս մեկ անգամ ապացուցելու, որ երբ խոսքը գնում է միևնույն արժեքների վրա հիմնված բարեկամության մասին, ոչինչ ի զորու չէ խաթարել այն:
