Մայրաքաղաքում կտեղադրվի պրոֆեսոր Բաբկեն Հարությունյանի հուշատախտակը. Երևանի ավագանի
Փետրվարի 10–ին կայացած Երևան քաղաքի ավագանու 5-րդ նստաշրջանի 1-ին նիստում ավագանին հաստատեց անվանի պատմաբան, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ թղթակից անդամ, պատմական գիտությունների դոկտոր, պրոֆեսոր Բաբկեն Հարությունյանի հիշատակը հավերժացնող հուշատախտակի տեղադրման մասին որոշման նախագիծը։
Հուշատախտակը նախատեսվում է տեղադրել Չարենցի 4 հասցեում։
Անվանի պատմաբան, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ թղթակից անդամ, պատմական գիտությունների դոկտոր, պրոֆեսոր Բաբկեն Հարությունյանը ծնվել է 1941թ. Երևանում։ 1958թ. ոսկե մեդալով ավարտել է Երևանի Հր. Աճառյանի անվան թիվ 72 միջնակարգ դպրոցը, 1962թ. գերազանցության դիպլոմով՝ Երևանի պետական համալսարանի պատմության ֆակուլտետը։ 1963-1966 թթ. ուսանել է նույն բուհի ասպիրանտուրայում։
1968թ. պաշտպանել է թեկանածուական ատենախոսություն՝ «Վայոց ձորը հնագույն ժամանակներից մինչև 1045 թվականը» խորագրով։ 1972-1977 թթ. գիտամանկավարժական գործունեությանը զուգահեռ՝ սովորել և գերազանցությամբ ավարտել է նաև ԵՊՀ իրավագիտության ֆակուլտետի հեռակա բաժինը։ Տարիների գիտահետազոտական տքնաջան պրպտումների արգասիք «Մեծ Հայքի վարչաքաղաքական բաժանման համակարգն ըստ «Աշխարհացոյց»-ի (արևմտյան և հարավային աշխարհներ)» դոկտորական ատենախոսությունը պաշտպանել է 1993թ.։ 2005թ. նրան շնորհվել է պրոֆեսորի կոչում, 2006թ. ընտրվել է ՀՀ ԳԱ ակադեմիայի թղթակից անդամ։
1969-2013թթ. դասավանդել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանում, 1993-1994թթ. դասախոսել է նաև Համազգայինի Բեյրութի հայագիտական բարձրագույն հիմնարկում, իսկ 1995-1996 թթ.՝ ԱՄՆ-ի Միչիգանի Դիզբորն համալսարանում։ 1970-1971 թթ. Բաբկեն Հարությունյանը եղել է ԵՊՀ արտասահմանյան ուսանողների հետ աշխատանքների գծով դեկան, 1983-1985 թթ.՝ նույն բուհի կուսկոմիտեի քարտուղարի տեղակալ, 1985-1988 թթ.՝ «Երևանի համալսարան» հրատարակչության տնօրեն, 1993-2004 թթ.՝ ԵՊՀ պատմության ֆակուլտետի դեկան, համատեղությամբ՝ 1997-2000 թթ.՝ ԵՊՀ Հայաստանին հարակից երկրների պատմության ամբիոնի վարիչ։
2003-2013 թթ.՝ ԵՊՀ Հայոց պատմության ամբիոնի վարիչ, 2007-2008 թթ. վարել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ-ի ակադեմիկոս-քարտուղարի պաշտոնը։ Տարիներ շարունակ եղել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ Պատմության ինստիտուտում գործող գիտական աստիճաններ շնորհող խորհրդի փոխնախագահ։
Հայ ժողովրդի հին և միջնադարյան պատմության ուսումնասիրության ասպարեզում լուրջ ներդրում են Բաբկեն Հարությունյանի՝ «Հայաստանի, հայ-իրանական հարաբերությունների և Առաջավոր Ասիայի հնագույն պատմության մի քանի խնդիրների շուրջ (Ք.ա. VII-VI դարեր)», (1998թ.), «Աշխարհացոյց»-ը և «Չորս Հայքերի խնդիրը» (1997), «Մեծ Հայքի վարչաքաղաքական բաժանման համակարգը ըստ «Աշխարհացոյց»-ի» (մաս Ա, 2001թ.) մենագրություններն ու այլ ուսումնասիրությունները։
Բաբկեն Հարությունյանի հեղինակությամբ լույս է տեսել «Հայաստանի պատմության ատլաս»-ը և «Հայաստանի ազգային ատլաս»-ը։ Նա նաև «Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի Հանրապետություն» եռալեզու ատլասի համահեղինակ է։
Բաբկեն Հարությունյանն արժանացել է Մովսես Խորենացու մեդալի և մի շարք այլ մեդալների։ 2009թ. նրան շնորհվել է ՀՀ գիտության վաստակավոր գործչի կոչում։ Գիտնականն արժանացել է Ֆրանսիայի արտաքին գործերի նախարարության ու Ֆուլբրայթի հիմնադրամի թոշակներին, ընտրվել է Բնության և հասարակության մասին գիտությունների և «Արարատ» միջազգային ակադեմիաների անդամ։
Բաբկեն Հարությունյանը մահացել է 2013թ. փետրվարի 26-ին Երևանում։
